Hi Mike The 60's ?

My first real football 'excitement' was listening to the radio as a kid and hearing Ray Gabelich running toward goal and kicking it! My first real disappointment was hearing that Neil Crompton had replied with another. That year in the 2nd semi we beat geelong by 4 points to get in the Grand Final.

The high and low mix never seemed to stop from then on. In 65 we were beaten by the Saints by 1 point in the second semi. Then massacred by Essendon in the prelim. (Len Thompson's first game)

In 66, we beat the Saints in the second semi by 10 points. Then lost in the Grand Final by 1 point. (sheesh!)

In 69 we topped the ladder and got wiped out in straight sets.

In 70 we topped the ladder 2 games clear, beat Carlton by 10 points in the 2nd semi and they beat us by 10 in the big one.

We were always in it most years after too, but so it went...

This current crop have a lot of bad memories to abolish for me,lets hope they are up to it.

Grandsons Cobood, grandsons?

Thank you!

I haven't got to that stage of life yet (not looking forward to it either), and I might not. I have 3 musos and none of them seem remotely interested in long term relationships - long may it last.

You make 5 - there's more of us out there than I thought.

My memory seems to only take me to the 70s,must of been to young to remember the 60s seeing i was only in nappies in the early 60s.

My first memory of collingwood was going to Vic park in the 70s and watching Peter Mckenna kicked a goal from the boundary line.
He was about 45 yards out with a very stiff breeze.I was right behind him and watched it sail right thru the centre at the Yarra falls end.I really liked the way he started the ball at the left hand point post and to watch it come around with the wind amazed me.
Then trying to get Len Thompsons autograph after a game, standing next to him as an 8 year old was quite frightening,he was huge, talk about Jack and the beanstalk!

No one from that era could ever forget the Richardson brothers and Barry Price.Watching these boys get the ball out of the centre and putting it down Mckennas throat was awesome.

One thing i will NEVER forget is the 77 Grand Final draw, even know i wish i could!

Please, please Mike do i qualify for the old farts club!!!!!

Well theres my HITS and MEMORIES and GO PIES

******WE WILL RISE IN OUR WAY*****
