Most importantly the players are playing with grunt - the pressure is excellent and we are forcing teams to play under pressure - an absolute key to play good finals footy!
Looking ahead I would rate...
10-2 is A+
9-3 is A (Most likely)
8-4 is B
7-5 is C
We are currently B+ for the season after a flunk'n start. |
Still think we are on track for an 'A' ... although we are still only B+ overall _________________ Love us or Hate us... we are Collingwood - you can't ignore the Mighty Magpies!!! |

Well, it was always a stupid thread. Nothing like underestimating the opposition, week after week, season after season. |

Worse is NOT respecting the opposition.... Just so bloody silly at AFL level when they are nearly ALL good teams on their day.
Wanting to win is fine but seriously expecting to win just about every bloody game is totally dumb... |

If we play like last night......
If we play like the last qtr against Carlton........
If we play like the first qtr against Essendon........
If we play like the first half against Sydney.......
We wont be beating the Eagles
We are up and down at the moment - as expected with the youth we are playing and game plan that is still developing.
Point is that we have as much exposed POOR form as we have good form since the epic fail of round 1
These threads though are not reflective of where we are at right now. _________________ "Even when Im old and gray, I wont be able to play but Ill still love the game"

Exactly right. That is why making silly predictions of winning last night by over 10 goals is utter bloody crap..... |

We'll still be 9-3 or probably 8-4 at worst, but that's cold comfort given that we didn't play anything like a top 4 team last night. We can probably get past the Eagles at home and do as we please against the Demons, Saints and Bulldogs, but until we get out of second gear it's going to be difficult to be enthusiastic about our chances in September. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |

Yes. Let's do as we please at home against the Demons: that worked so well last round for the Crows! |

To apply a hard and fast rule for the rest of the season.
If we beat all the teams below us on the ladder at the moment and lose to the teams above us, we will end up with a 16 wins and 6 losses record. That's only another 3 losses.
2 to the Hawks and 1 to the Power. The rest of the games are against teams below us.
However we are likely to drop a game or two against a lower team and possibly pick up 1 game against power and Hawks.
So that will leave us at 15 and 7. Which may be enough for top 4 given the evenness of the season. 16 and 6 generally will get you top 4. |

Well at least my sphincter is safe from Lazza.
But seriously next weeks game is now massive as I dare say most of us when looking at the draw would have penciled in at least 4 wins from this 5 week block which started last night.
Must win all 4 to stay in touch with the top 4.

We are but we've got a game in hand over two sides above us and with Port taking on Hawthorn and Geelong playing North a win against the eagles will have us right back in the hunt for a top 4 spot at seasons end. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Having had a look at the ladder predictor, I have us back in the 4 within a fortnight and a game clear in there (and only a game shy of 1st) by round 13. But what happens after that is anyone's guess. We're just fortunate enough to have a soft draw over the next month. I still see us as a 5th-6th team unless we can dramatically improve our form. _________________ "Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence." – Julian Assange |
