No Goddard or Bellchambers = no excuses, we simply must win now.

Reporting the same on SEN via News and the Buzz. Goddard didn't train.
Wonderlink a strong chance to come in.
Goddard out is a big out for them. Reigning B&F. Is their class on the outside and forward and can play damaging role loose across HB. |

Keeffe does bring something Brown doesn't. That is good sharp disposal and height and reach. He is good against the lanky tall forwards, but not the bulls. That's where Brown dog is the man. Brown is also a bit more mobile too for the sharper turning types. So it's horses for courses.
Bombers only have lanky talls, so I'd go with Keeffe this week. |
From what I saw of the match last year against the Giants it was pretty clear that Cameron's ability to turn was far too good for Brown - Keefe was then put on Cameron and did a much better job of sticking to his man... Brown is good on the huge/strong forwards who might have too much strength for both Frost and or Keefe atm.
Given the Essendon bigs are not huge I would say Brown will struggle to force his way into the side this week! |
Midfield got on top in the GWS game and Cameron's supply was restricted meaning Keeffe had an easier job than Brown. |
You are probably right about the mids and less supply etc... but the main point I was trying to make was that Brown turns like a truck.. Cameron just turned around and waltzed into goal - - whereas Keefe stuck to him. Brown seems Ok running in straight lines - might be the knee - who knows... it was just very obvious in that match-up. Brown plays on the monsters otherwise Frost and Keefe are better on the more mobile forwards. |
Agreed although I'd like to see how Brown goes now he's dropped a few kilos. |

Anyone who thinks we can just stroll in and win is overly optimistic
Are Essendrug bad enough to lose three on the trot? |
I think anyone whose sitting in that boat clearly hasn't watched an Anzac Day game ever before. The Bummers seem to lift more than we do but perhaps that's just the way it looks when you've got one eye out!!!
The first 20 minutes against the Saints had me seriously concerned about tomorrow.... and then look what happened. The way they moved the ball early was Hawthorn like... but clearly you pressure them and they nuff it, particularly with a few players missing.
Glad for our sake if Goddard is missing.... but I would just remind people of 2009 and an unknown mongrel by the name of Zaharakis. Or even one Mark McCough! Just because the "big names" are missing doesn't mean one that you haven't heard of won't step up and do something amazing.
On paper I think we have them covered. As Tannin said though.... it depends on which teams turns up. I actually feel our last four weeks have been reasonably consistent so I think it's a little odd to consider last weekend an "up" weekend. I feel confident but have been to enough of these clashes to know that I won't be shocked if the Bummers find a way to win.

Meh, a little too much caution in here for my liking. I'll be very surprised if we don't smack this mob. Very good midfield, suspect defence and dodgy forward line. Sure, they'll come out snarling early but we'll control the game by half time. Pies by 48 pts _________________ Formally frankiboy and FrankieGoesToCollingwood. |

Frankie, I like your thinking. A lot of people were bemoaning the second half last week but it was interesting to hear Bucks say that North changed their setup meaning we had to battle for a quarter to counter their moves. It doesn't worry me one bit that it took that long because the key thing is we did counter. We have so many developing weapons that are so versatile that even if we're struggling early I feel we'll get on top of them eventually. _________________ Side By Side Forever |

Pies by 33 points plus, we did better against the cats than the dawks, we are improving each week, this will be close and tough for awhile, but we will pull away after half time. Confident now !
