Quote: | The late kick offs are a mark of rememberance
If you have been looking at Premier League kick off times for this weekend and noticed that kicks offs are at 7 minutes past the hour, it is not a glitch.
All matches in England from April 11th to 14th will kick off 7 minutes later than normal as a mark of respect to those who tragically died at Hillsborough in April 1989.
The mark of respect applies to both FA Cup semi-finals and all Premier League and Football League games.
Thus tomorrow's FA Cup semi between Arsenal and Sheffield Wednesday will have a minutes silence at 5.06pm with the match kicking off at 5.07pm.
Tomorrow's 3pm kick offs in the Premier League will get underway at 3.07pm, while the Liverpool v Manchester City match on Sunday starts at 1.37pm. |

Arsenal make the FA Cup Final......just!
They beat Wigan on penalties after a 90 mins plus an added 30 min of extra time couldn't split them at 1-1. Wigan lead, with Arsenal only equalizing with 7 min to go in regulation time.
Gunners win on penalties 4-2 when Wigan miss their first two. So no matter what, Arsenal are through!
They'll play the winner of Hull v Sheff U.
But while all that's going on, Everton win again in the league and move up to the all important fourth spot.
Massive one tonight; Liverpool v Man City @ Anfield. |

FA Cup Final decided. The two favourites from the semis get through but both got massive scares along the way. In Semi 2, Hull finally got over third tier Sheffield Utd 5-3 in a pulsating eight goal thriller at Wembley. If only the final could be this good!
The all-Premier Final is Arsenal v Hull City. |

Now we are at Xmas & that means the halfway point, let's put our predictions forward. At least this campaign has a bit of a log jam at the top making it interesting for a change. (especially for those who don't support one of the big clubs)
Champs?, Top 6 & Relegation.
At the moment we have at the top;
Liverpool 36 Arsenal 36 Man City 35 Chelsea 34 Everton 34 Newcastle 30
At the bottom;
Crystal Pal 13 Fulham 13 Sunderland 10.
My predictions for the end of the season in order;
Man City (champs), Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd, Arsenal, Everton.
Going down;
Norwich, Sunderland, Crystal Pal.
Time will tell......... |
Thought it high time to revisit my Xmas predictions. Looks like my tip Man City blew their chances in their last two games, but my high Liverpool pick is standing up. Man U have not caught up as I would have thought. My predicted top 6 is the current top 6, but you don't need to be a genius to do
that.
At the bottom I still think I'll get 2 of the 3 right. Sunderland & Norwich are still right in the relegation mix. Norwich were 13th at Xmas so I've gone well to spot their decline. But geez I got Palace wrong. Didn't back on the Pulis factor there. |

Burnley defeat Wigan 2-0 and secure automatic promotion to the Premier League for next season. The Clarets join Leicester as the two auto promoted clubs.
Machinations continue for the four play off places with Derby and QPR locked in, but the other two spots are still up for grabs.
Looks like Luvverpool have the Premier League wrapped up. |

Q. What will it take for David Moyes to finally get Everton to finish above Man U?
A. Start managing Man U.
Moyes was sacked today after less than one season of his six year contract. A very poor succession plan. Moyes immediately replaced the trusted Man U assistant coaches with his own. By his own hand he had a coaching team who had no experience of the Champs League or the level of pressure that goes with the Man U job. Every decision, however small, became monumental. Every poor result became a catastrophe.
His players, all of whom are multiple winners, eventually saw him as a manager out of his depth. He lost the players.
With the season closing, Moyes was not going to be trusted with £100m to rebuild over the summer. He was not the man. The gig was up. |

The word on where to now for Moyes has thrown a few options.
Celtic (his old club), that would give him at shot at winning trophies, or if staying in England; Tottenham, Villa & Newcastle have been touted by the press. |
