And this is the organisation that thinks they can act as a supplementary legal system when players misbehave. How much credibility do they have now?
Seriously, pack Demetriou and the rest of them off to the Central African Republic now and be done with it. Their government may still have a thing or two to learn about corruption. _________________ All watched over by machines of loving grace |

I'm sorry, but what's the issue? There was some discussions among interested parties with an organisation and individuals that had brought the parent organisation into disrepute, with a view to putting a damaging ongoing issue to rest?
I'd be surprised if there wasn't. |

Open and Transparent governance I believe is the issue here Phil, the AFL is viewed as a public organisation and most Football followers feel they have an interest/investment in how it's run.
Perception is reality. |

it'd be naive to think there would not have been backroom deals done or, in the least, put forward.
it's good to see that many supporters are engaged enough to think they have a right to know what the afl's governing body get up to.
this was always going to be no win for the afl. too many people and "stakeholders" to appease.
we got the premier we were always likely to have got. the competition was not compromised in that sense. _________________ Purveyor of sanctimonious twaddle. |

Show what a Joke the AFL is as they did there best to get the Bummers off as much as possible.
Makes me sick to the Stomach that the AFL will do anything to save the Face of Game and let Teams get off?
Guess they Hid info from WADA and SADA.
I think there should be a Vote of No Confidence with them. _________________ I am Da Man |

Happy to admit to being a bit old fashioned but clear transparency and absolute honesty were lacking during this entire process. Surely the AFL "should" have nothing to hide to the public that partly fund their existence? It's not like they have nuclear power secrets.... |

Given the amount of money and the commercial relationships involved, I think it's naive to expect 'transparency'. |

I strongly disagree. In a competition where public support and perceptions are absolutely crucial to its success, I think that transparency is a vital component of good credible management or governance. |

We will have to agree to disagree - in my opinion, 'transparency' wont happen for exactly the same reasons.
And I'm not sure what 'transparency' means where individual's personal lives, reputations and livelihoods are at stake.
There's little-to-no transparency in plea bargaining or settlement negotiations in the criminal justice or commercial litigation arenas and those are far more important aspects of society than a domestic sporting competition.

Fair call.
On some other forums today, many are calling for Dimi's head but it might all be a bit of wishful thinking... |
