The AFL will find that them new signs are a little dangerous for the Footballers, in I think a World Cup Soccer match I think of the players seriously injured himself on one of them signs. If it wasn't a World Cup game, then it was one other match, or a different sport. Maybe it was Basketball or Rugby. _________________ Ðavâgé

Why is that, maggies_4_eva? Because we hold a different opinion to yours? At least Joffa and I can disagree on this issue without either of us suggesting we are unworthy of the black and white stripes.
I love the club. But I also love the game, the people and the spectacle involved in it, and I think some things are worth hanging on to.
I think your post is pretty embarrassing too, but if you say you support Collingwood, that's good enough for me. I don't really care what else you happen to think, to the extent you think at all - Weed _________________ "The greatest thing that could happen to the nation is when we get rid of all the media. who knows in 20 years time you may not even see the crowd on the tv, it may have advertising digitally superimposed over it the whole time.
if say 10,000 people banged at once, i think the afl would put pressure on Ed to post something on here like "stop it". you really vote with your feet. if people think the atmosphere sucks then stay home, if enough stayed home the afl would maybe look it at if that was one of the primary reasons given why people were staying away. could you imagine the survey:
Q. Why don't you go to the MCG anymore?
A. Um, because i can't make noise by banging on the fence.

If you want to make noise, banging on the fence is ineffective compared to those Crazy John clackers we had over in Adelaide for the Port game. They make so much noise it would be great if our supporters had them.
Maybe these could be made available to supporters for a small fee to cover their cost and make a small donation to the club. These sure as hell beat banging on some fence.

I think that's a good idea. Alternative ways to make noise need to be found to intimidate opposition players, and offer encouragement to pies players. Having a look at fans of other sports may offer some possible inspirations IMHO. I remember watching a cricket match and the west indies supporters had all these instruments such as drums etc. Drums can be loud. Just I guess somebody has to provide the equipment, right? Hrmm. So what else makes noises? Horns?
I guess alternative methods of noise making are required since fence banging is not allowed. Everyone could just shout at the top of their lungs though if they really wanted to! The downside of that would be, we'd end up with everyone losing their voice or having a sore throat the day after! |
