Just got a nasty shock reading some old Nick BB posts, when I saw this quote from July 1999:

"It is paramount that Shawy and the selectors use the rest of the season to give further experience to the guys who need it ie: Michael Gardiner, Ben Kinnear, Brad Oborne, Chris Tarrant, Brent Tuckey."

Oh no not another disaster trade. However not to be as further research showed the Toast M Gardiner is a different one and in fact was Toast's 1996 #1 pick, from this article which is also a good commentary on Josh Fraser's relative development as two #1 ruck picks compared:

I don't remember the other Michael Gardiner at all.
