Hmmm...interesting point you make. Yes you may be right there, Coley is just not up to it yet.......
Very disappointing loss.

WRONG!
lokan and holland played solid matches, although holland fumbled badly in the first half, when we were down and out he kicked a few goals and showed a bit of spunk. lokan is consistantly in our best players so you're completely wrong there!
mckee however...like i have said many times, we either need a tap ruckman or another midfielder. none of this around the ground ruckman crap. we're slow enough as it is.
either mckee or fraser, not both.
didak is definitely not playing his best footy at the moment, however he is still managing to kick a few goals per match. don't forget also he is only a kid and we don't have many forward crummers to replace him anyway.
on the issue of cole however i agree with you. although he is the best tackler in our team, he just keeps letting himself down with sub-par disposal and this is costing us rebounds into the defensive-fifty.

Richard "Helmut" Cole is fine. A little inexperienced and raw, but a potential superstar. _________________ "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me... you can't get fooled again." - Oscar Wilde |

cole just needs game time - sitting on the bench for over a quarter while cockatoo collins obliterated shaw was senseless. |

true...but towards the end tarrant began acting for them!
as witnessed by us all (remember matty lloyd) when forwards play for frees, they just dont get them!

Well, the poor bastard had to try something to get a free kick. In many aspects this reminded me of the Brisbane game. A second half onslaught salvaged by a few cheap goals at the end.
A very disappointing loss considering the players Port were missing. What rubs salt into the wounds is watching Cockatoo Collins kick goals. The free kick he got in the first quarter was pathetic and the elbow to the groin of Burns was a typical cheap shot. Just to add the icing on the cake he goes off injured and probably wont play another good game for the year.
Cole may not have had the best game but at least he never shirks a contest. I reckon Lonie is a good player but too often in one on one contests he doesnt hold his feet and goes to ground.
Brodie Holland fumbled on many occassion but to his credit he bounced back and ended up with three goals. However he could suffer from the Shane Watson syndrome that he suffered towards end of his career, If we rely on him to kick goals and be amongst our better players we will lose more games than we win.
Ben Johnson got calved up tonight imo. Far too loose for a backman.
Josh Frasers disposal is letting him down big time and too many turnovers.
Tarrants kicking let him down tonight but he cant be a match winner every week. Considering the was he was man handled at EVERY contest he did well.
Was VERY disappointed with the game of Rocca. Couple dropped chest marks early in the game and ZERO goals. Rocca will bounce back as he is a great player.
At 5-5 our season is at the cross roads. Hopefully we can string a few wins together and build our confidence as the matches up until round 18 are all very winnable.
Congratulations to Scott Burns who i thought as usual gave it his all and played great. The true unsung hero of Collingwood week in and week out.

Well said JLC
Another thing about this game was the very frustrating stop start taking 30 mins chipping it around gettting into our forward 50 giving Tarrant<----who got scragged again tonight not alot of chance, it is very frustrating when u consider when we move it on quickly we usually get results.
From a spectators view it doesn't look like we are attacking enough given our forward line with Tarrant, Rocca, Davis and didak.
Also I wonder where we rate in clangers anybody know? _________________ FOR F**K SAKE MOVE THE BALL ON QUICKLY!!! |

Didak needs to play a blinder next week if he wants to save his spot. Problem was that all our backline players that usually run off and set up play were dragged to the goal line. We don't match up too well against them in our backline. It felt like we had 4 less players on the field. |

Good point NR147 - not that I saw the game yet but I have seen it happen many times b4.
Rupe is a good idea as a backman against the top sides - has the experience and solidity that seems a bit thin in our young backline.
MM seems almost as inconsistent as some of the players - has great coaching games then mediocre ones - I think maybe he takes the "have faith in your players when getting beaten" approach too far sometimes. When it doesn't pay off it has the reverse effect in demoralising their confidence. |
