never going to win games without goals from marking forwards. admittedly it was one of those nights where big men struggled (only brogan and tredrea snagged one each) but nothing on the score-sheet from rocca, molloy or tarrant. no rhythm tonight. port were ok - nothing exceptional and with the blokes they had out, covered well. disappointing but not unexpected. good break now for monday's game Vs dees. woewodin will have a long week to think about playing his old side. maybe with the added couple of days we might regain presti. not much to take from tonight other than it didnt blow out to 40-50+ points.
hard to find, but;
3- burns
2- cloke
1- lokan/molloy
only burns got much of it out of those four but i thought molloy was a trier all night (just doesnt kick enough goals though) and lokan, while making a few mistakes, destroyed wanganeen in the second Q. why was he moved off him in the 2nd half???!!! cloke was probably our only winner on the night Vs tredrea. |

yea i agree with most of that......it was a pretty ordinary game really, port were average, we were fumbly and generally crude. i really am questioning the value of having stunner, clokey and wakelin today....they only had one key forward!
not much to choose from:
3 molloy
2 burns/woey
1 licka/taz
suprisingly, i also think we were out-coached - their small forwards such as cockatoo-collins and pickett absolutely smashed us and we had no matchups.
oh well theres always next week....we survived 10 years of pain, we can survive another week of it CARN THE PIES! _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks... - Eugene Debs |

one last thing.
there was absolutely NO CLASH of colours! i was watching on tv and i found it much easier to follow then say a collingwood/north melbourne or collingwood/carlton match.....
just a ploy to bring the crowds...unneccessary really: they forgot who they were playing against _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. When I rise it will be with the ranks... - Eugene Debs |

Precisely. The jumpers are easily distinguished. _________________ "There's an old saying in Tennessee, I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee, that says, fool me once, shame on... shame on you. Fool me... you can't get fooled again." - Oscar Wilde |

Assasin, that was the POST of the year...my thoughts exactly....actually the next 8 games we will start favourite in. That would make us 13 and 5 with 4 games to come..... |

like cakewalk said, dont be too sure about these next matches.
i think as a team we don't know how to play from the front. it seems to me we rarely control a match for 4 quarters, we rely instead on coming from behind in the second half for a close win. i would rate us a better chance of winning on the MCG against brisbane than against some garbage team like hawthorn......(almost )
nah seriously we should win them all, but in my short experience as a supporter (all of 16 years) we rarely win what we should, instead we rely on winning big matches to make the finals. _________________ I would be ashamed to admit that I had risen from the ranks. The way Collingwood played against Port, the next games will be all loses. There is no easy game, in the AFL, even if a team thrashes a bottom side. The Western Bulldogs could run out onto the ground and beat Collingwood, Brisbane, Essendon, or even West Coast. You just have to think that every game is hard and play your normal game and not expect to win easily. Because we know it sometimes never ends up like that. _________________ Ðavâgé

Have some of you learnt nothing yet?
Football isn't played on a pice of frickin' paper. The Bulldogs nearly beat Adelaide at AAIMI last week!
If you guys are already penciling us in for wins against teams below us, then God save us all. 22 human beings against 22 human beings. That's what it comes down to - not a ladder position. And for those who say we've already played teams in the top 8. So what - what's the point of scraping into th 8 if we can't match it with the best? Last year we could match it with them, this year... Our team has changed so much with very young additions (Lokan, Shaw, Holland) to the team structure last year.
You guys are probably the same people who had Sydney and West Coast penciled in as wins - we can't even defeat interstate teams in Victoria.
We are struggling bad.
Don't think Melbourne, Hawthorn, Kangaroos, Western Bulldogs, Fremantle, Richmond, Carlton are gunna be pushovers in the next 2 months.
If we don't pull the proverbial out, goodbye 2003. And the thing is, after last year, the West Coasts, the Fremantles etc are already taking us over for development. We seem to have stalled - even gone backwards. We better take our chances or we'll find ourselves struggling with the elite againn. |

I've learnt something Daicos, Don't over react. We are not playing 4 quarters of footy, but either are the teams like Melbourne, Hawks, North, Bulldogs.
We have the same team that wern't too far away from Brissy last year and very close again this year. Some of our footy this year has been very good, even better than last year. I have faith in the boys.
We are 5 and 5 and 2 games from the top4. We have played everyone that will challenge for the flag and over the next 5 weeks we will build our season like we did last year. |

I picked Port to win by 24, they ended up winning by 25. Now with a sad sigh & a heavy heart, I pick Collingwood to miss out on the top four this year. They are just not with it mentally, and poor Tazza, Bucks, Burnsy & about two others are carrying 75% of the load. They are NOT a team destined this year, unlike last year. The sense of purpose displayed last year is just not there. They seem flat. Don't know why. Players not listening to the coach? Lack of descipline? Who knows...........
Sure they will win a few more games and lose a few they should really have won but in the overall big picture, I just cant see them playing a significant role in September, like they did last year. |
