Actually, I would have thought Scotty Burns on Kane Cornes in the same game. Probably a better tackle as Ben Johnson only just managed to cling on to Burgoyne's jumper. |

I remember a game might have been 2000, hawks vs. kangaroos, dying seconds hawks up by 5 points David King on the Run at 50 m going to kick, Daniel Chic tackled him holding the ball siren goes hawks win.
But who cares ben johnsons was heaps better _________________ Side By Side We Stick TOGETHER.............. |

Pretty sure it was John Hay who laid that one.
Justin Murphy on Dean Wallis was a beauty.
But the best of all was when I played for Doncaster in the EFL - My Blackburn opponent was running into an open goal and I chased him down in front of the social club to ensure a 2 point victory. I'm sure you all remember this and agree THAT was the best match-winning tackle. |

i think it was fraser brown on dean wallis in the 99 prelim.

Correct. Brown laid the tackle, Murphy was the one with the ball in his hands as the siren went. |

Well the best match winning tackle i can remember is Ben Johnson in the qualifying final. It was so crucial in the context of the game and was VERY team lifting and inspiring, it took us well on the way to victory and i was about 10 metres away, front row behind the goals. Never experienced anything like it, especially cos i was sitting next to Benny Johnsons number 1 fan. It was an awesome moment for Ben and everyone im sure _________________ Those with the most invested are the last to surrender!

I think it might have been Ladham's. He took a mark I think, and tried to take Clement on - BANG! Game Over. |

It would have been Fraser Brown in the 99 prelim final, not Justin Murphy. The next tackle Murphy lays will be the first one. |

I am afraid to say that the best match winning tackle I have ever seen was laid by George Gregan in a Rugby Union game for the Wallabies against NZ.
Aussies won by a couple of points after Gregan caused a KIwi to drop the ball whilst diving over the line. Gregan and the Kiwi were both going at full pace.
It was awesome and about the only time I have been excited by either rugby codes |
