Post subject: back line... | |
|
A lot of people are saying that the only problem with collingwood is, teams have finally worked out how to outplay our backline, it seems asif our backline has fallen apart a little over the past few weeks or so, its asif we've been exposed a little. do any of use have an opinion on this, i tend to agree a little bit but i also think, if we're not attacking properly and the ball is bouncing out of our forwardline quickly then i think any backline would be under pressure. also i think a couple of our great back players have been out of form, Jimmy clement hasnt really done much so far and has been beaten a few times, Johnno has been quietly out of form aswell, and we'll be missing presti for the next few weeks aswell, has it come to the time where we need richo back there for some hight and also experiance?? what do you guys think?? _________________ got yourself a gun... |

Last season, our 'no-names' did a great job.
This year, their cohesion and harmony have been adversely effected by injury and unavailability. _________________ Donny.

The ball's simply going down there too often and too directly. Any backline would suffer. |

Agree with Donny and Sly....
Ball goes down there too fast... and injury has slowed them down a bit...
Wakes, Clemo, Clokey and Presti is a damn good back line.... and the small backs such as Benny, Voice of Rhyce, and Lokan are doing great under pressure. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

As our team is one of the lowest ranked clubs to go into forward 50 our backline has been under great pressure so far this year but i think it has held up well, as Essendon have been the only team that's kicked a huge score against us. Expect Clement to bounce back well and start to dominate his opponent once the ball stays up the other end of the ground more and when teams don't go direct straight down the ground. |

WAtching the game last night ( http://www.magpies.net/nick/bb/viewtopic.php?t=10613&start=15 I thought last week they held up reasonably well except they were short-staffed and that's why Embley and others got some much too easy marks and goals. Also, sometimes running eagles brushed off defenders too easily. No doubt we missed presti. ANyway we should have bolstered the defense esp in the last with either McKee, Molloy or maybe even Rocca and rotated some fresh runners through defense in the last. And start the game concentrating on tackling and pressure.
Will be a very big test for Cloke but he does judge marks well I think. |
