since he has been out of the team, alot of our performances have been very flat etc with not alot of run through the middle (apart from Adelaide and Brizzy matches), im not sayin this is the reason but does this show just how important tarkyn is

Exactly!

His presence on the field is not replaceable... HUGE loss to the team for 2003... I'll always have faith in the boys, but Tarkyns absence has and will cost them alot this year! Cant wait for him to be back!

Yes but you look at where Tarkyn places the kick-outs and they are mainly short to the bloke in the back pocket. Don't forget he has often cost us goals over the years with some extremely embarrassing kick-ins. We beat Geelong without him gaining a possession, we beat Carlton with him only getting 8 possies, we beat Richmond with him not playing that well, we beat Adelaide without him, the other losses have been to good teams or teams playing well. He is not a bad midfielder but only if given space. Put him on an opponent and see him try to win the contest. Yeah laugh. I think you lot are reading too much into this. If another player had missed many of those matches we lost you would probably come to a similar conclusion about them.

he is a good running player who links up an carries the ball over the lines,if we were winning we would be saying we dont need him or he will add to the team i suppose we will find out as the season progresses

Tarks is a very important player, and is in fact very under-rated. Obviously not the sole reaon we have lost a few, but does not have an obvious replacement in the side.

Nicholas, it may seem like I'm having a go at you, but I will come to Tarks' defence on this issue. He has not OFTEN cost us a goal. Please see this thread for some factual stats, not just selective memory.

yeah i agree, we are missing tarkyn at the moment. just his pin-point kicks, reliability and presence on the field. we don't seem to have run through the middle. with woey and willo coming into the team, i thought they would be able to fill some of the HUGE hole tarks has left but they haven't as yet. we need him back, not just his superb skills but his leadership and courage.
can't wait till his back, i miss him HEAPS!

luv jess

There is some possibility he might lose some pace after the knee op and he may take some time to re-adjust. He is a handy player who plays an important role in the scheme of things but he's no gun. He is another who shone in the Wizard Cup but struggled as soon as the real stuff started.

Lockyer is one of the most underated footballers going around and him not being there is really hurting us. His foot skills are second to none and was usually pin point with his kick ins. I wish him all the best in his recovery.
