Post subject: Profit or Loss???? | |
|
I was at a business breakfast last Friday and Ian Dicker, Dorks president was the guest speaker, and made the comment that of all the Victorian clubs, only Hawthorn and Essendon made a profit for 2002.
He went on to say that the only reason Collingwood listed a profit, as opposed to actually making one, was because of creative bookwork and right downs.
He basically was saying that in the present AFL dividend structure, victoria cannot support 10 teams and was also trying to put the "Hawthorn is the strongest of all the Vic clubs" spin on.
I have been to a few of these type of functions where he has spoken, and he has taken every opportunity to sink the boots into the pies. Personally, I think it is a case of professional jealousy and small club syndrome, but I would be curious to find out if there is any truth in the statements made. |

What he said is true.
We made a cash profit of $1.???? Mill, and then depreciated some assets which actually gave us an "on paper" loss.
Dicker forgot to mention that the Dawks have nothing of value to depreciate.
Fact remains, that we made a trading profit of over $1.1 million. |

If he's so worried about not being able to support the 10 clubs, whilst blurring the real story, then he should put his hand up for his rabble to merge. |
