There is an article in the Sun about it this morning.
I'm so glad you have all stuck it out and taken it further - keep us all updated on what happens.
They talk about 'on field actions' driving away families - and this stuff happens.

Stick with it Sophie, don't be intimidated if the security firm try to talk you out of pressing charges. That thug's actions are a disgrace and an example must be made of him. Causing an injury to an eleven year old deserves a jail sentence. _________________ Floreat Pica |

This is almost unbelievable. Sophie, we have never met but I am numb thinking about how you must have felt. You stood strong and brave. Continue to stand strong and brave and put this mug behind bars! _________________ My oxygen is Collingwood. Without it I die.

Disgraceful. This sort of thing could destroy the Dome. If families stop feeling safe, they will stop coming. Its as simple as that.
I saw another incident (around aisle 5) were some little guy was extremely upset at a guy wearing black and white. Where was the security ushering these people out? _________________ Scooby Doo says "I've been to Lexus too." |

Child hurt in Dome incident
TELSTRA Dome will investigate an incident in which a schoolgirl Collingwood fan suffered a bloodied mouth in an incident with a security guard.
Magpie cheer squad member Sophie Tripp, 11, was left in tears with a cut mouth after she was struck following Collingwood's loss to Sydney on Saturday night.
Cheer squad match day coordinator Lesley Benham said she was confronted by the guard in the stands after the game and told to leave.
Mrs Benham said she was taking details from fans who wanted to travel to Adelaide for Collingwood's next game and told the guard she would leave soon.
She said the ``aggressive'' guard then became angry and threatened to have her thrown out of the stadium.
Mrs Benham said the guard then swore at her in Greek and snatched papers from her hands.
The guard's arm flew back with the force of grabbing the papers and hit Sophie, who was standing behind, in the mouth, Mrs Benham said.
She said she believed that the contact was an accident but it was unnecessary.
``I don't think he meant it but it was over the top from the start. It could have gotten out of hand. It didn't look pretty,'' Mrs Benham said.
``It (the paperwork) would have taken one more minute if this person had let us be.''
Sophie, who is 150cm tall, said she was shocked by the contact which left her in tears with a bleeding mouth.
``I think it's really bad. I think he thinks he's very powerful just because he's got a badge,'' she said.
Sophie's father, Darren, has reported the incident to police.
Telstra Dome spokeswoman Susan Wood said arena management would examine the incident, which had been caught on the stadium's video system.

That's a lawsuit.
Security, of any sort, is usually instructed to take confrontations outside so their place of work isn't liable.
But striking an 11 year old girl? I'm sure that constitutes assault, particularly as she's not a physical threat, unless she was carrying a machete.
So sue them, I'm quite serious. |

Oh and one other thing, what was the big deal with staying on and doing whatever it was that the cheer squad were doing, did you not have a right to be there in the first place, were you causing damge or shouting abuse at opposition supporters....IF you paid your money then you have the right to be there.......what was his justification for hurrying you up?? anyways as I said this topic should not die until it has been taken to the full extent of the law.....hopefully you have contacted channel 7, should be a good topic for talking footy....and maybe ED can get this prick on the footy show and have 20 or 30 11 year old kids give him a nipple cripple and a smack in the mouth......now that would be entertainment!! (lol)

Just to bring every one up to date on what has happened so far.
After two phone calls to telstra dome, still no reply from any one.
Police can not tell me if he has been charged. The constable who took details at the time is not due back to work till 3.00pm tomorrow.
While mentioning the police, those who I dealt with on saturday I can not speak highly enough of. They were totally professional the whole time during the incident and at no stage treated me like the bad guy.
Security company, have not bothered to speak to me at all.
I have received one call from the club, thanks Cameron.
They should be getting back to me soon.
Have not heard anything on the radio but I hear it was a popular topic in Ballarat.
Once again thank you every one for your support.
It truly shows we are one!!!
Will let you all know more as it happens. |
