Anyone noticed that our turn for the worse has coincided with the injury of Tarkyn Lockyer?
Speed in the midfield, that's what we're missing!

Exactly right Sarah.

Even though some may have thought tarks to be a bit soft, what he did do was create that link player all around the ground which meant that someone else would be able to get free on occasions.

I was thinking the same thing last night after the game wondering why our boys were so inept at linking together then it hit me tarks would do a lot of that running and recieving type work.

The lesson here is that you never actually know what you have got until its gone.

GET WELL SOON TARKS YOUR TEAM NEEDS YOU !!

Yup have to agree with you there about the Tarko man. Thats why i would play Neon Leon in midfield to get some more run and utilise Leons creativity and give him more freedom.

Here is my idea of a team for the Adelaide game.

b: Lokan Prestigiacomo Clement

hb: Burns Wakelin Cloke

c: Lonie Buckley Leon Davis

HF: Betheras Rocca Fraser

f: Didak Tarrant Molloy

R: McKee RR: Obree

r: Licuria

INT: Cole, McGough, Shaw, Scotland

No doubt people will have varying opinions. However Shaw and Davis need to play to increase our leg speed through the midfield. Betheras needs to be played around half forward to increase the intensity. I would give Lonie more freedom and play him on a wing where he can utilise his run and be delivering the ball to our forwards and kicking more goals.

I would give Cole a chance. His form in the reserves may not have been brilliant but i think he needs to be given a go.

Williams i have assumed is injured. Woewodin i have dropped. I think by dropping a high profile player this should send out a clear message to the rest if the team. Ben Johnson needs a spell for Willy as well.

I don't think Woewodin was amongst our best. We need more leg speed in midfield and Woewodin does not provide us with this. I say give him a run for Willy then bring him back later when his confidence is high.

Dropping players like Freeborn and bringing in Kinnear is like moving deck chairs on the Titanic. Its not going to stop us from sinking as these are band aid solutions.

I think the problems run deeper than Tarkyn. He was struggling and since he got injured we have played much better sides. He was depth in the midfield but I wouldn't exactly call him fast. None of our actual midfielders are speedy, Bucks is the quickest but he's not super quick.

I would have to disagree with this thought . Although I would like to see Tarkyn out there ;
Our form wasnt that great while he was playing (basically we won the first three with a couple of good quarters here and there. Our best game in hind site was probably the 3/4 effort against Brisbane)
And secondly the three losses were in the end fairly comprehensive.
I think our form goes back (as Mick alluded) to a team confidence thing , and its as a team we need to lift , not by the addition or omission and form of one player.
The players need to focus on there own form individually and as a team and forget what they cant have (Tarkyn) - as should we. There is more than enough talent there to still go a long way this year.
For me the best indicator would be a 4 quarter effort resulting in a win against a quality opposition . This Saturday Nights match is the perfect canvass. Tough as it is , its Over Time to stand up !!

Best wishes to Tarkyn.
