I think he will be cited for running into the umpire if spider everitt got one week for running into the umpire well it does'nt look good for wakes.Yes it was an accident hopefully common sense will prevail. |

If he is then the AFL are weak, purely accidental. |

This rule was initiated to protect umpires but when the contact is PURELY ACCIDENTAL, its not fair to suspend a good, honest player. If Wakes is cited, its nto bloody fair. _________________ Those with the most invested are the last to surrender!

reiwholt (spelling?) apologised immediately and profusely, wakelin didn't - i reckon he'll get at least 1 week, maybe 3/4. sorry to be a pessimist. he'll need the rest anyway to fix his hip properly. |

I reckon he will get away with it as he immediately put his hands up to say sorry. |

When the umpire bounced the ball he moved back and as Wakelin's opponent went 4 the ball Wakelin followed him and acidentally hit the umpire as he was in the way. I think it was purely accidental. |

why dont the umpires use some common sense and wear orange like they do in the pre season. i mena why wear white blue and red uniforms, the predominant colours of the AFL teams. its only common sense. _________________ Premiership Pies 03 |

He should go for 1-2 weeks only because the AFL have to show they are consistant
Then theres the fact as was mentioned that he plays for collingwood so I think he should be right to play around finals time |

Why aren't players allowed to run into umpires anyway? why such a trivial rule? has a player ever hurt an umpire running into him, and how many players intentionally run into an umpire?
the afl needs consistency and it needs it now.
what if an umpire runs into a player and injures him. It's the same theory isn't it - the player is injured! Are umpires a protected species? Clearly, they are, and this certainly doesn't help the image of respect for the umpires either. This rule is ridiculous! |

yer its hard to kno whether he will go or not. bloody afl is so up and down on this rule that no one really has any idea on what he will get.
what other rule is there where we all discuss the possibility of either getting off or getting 4 weeks?!?! |
