This is what Nigel Smartass said on the AFL website, Collingwood is known for having "failed to capitalise on some of the things they've been given."

What drugs is this guy on?
Does anyone know what he is talking about?
Sorry, but I don't understand what we have been given. IMO we have worked for everything we have achieved.

Just a few quotes from our great men MM and bucks regarding Nigel Smartass’ comments during the week. Bucks said, “As a group we like to think that the harder we work the luckier we get and we have earnt everything we have been able to achieve thus far and I am sure that if we achieve anything more going forward that it will be based on hard work.” The great man seems to agree with what I said earlier in the week, that we have earnt our fortunes.

Furthermore, regarding Smartass’ comments, Miracle Mick (that’s my nickname for MM) has come out with some great use of satire in regards to Smartass’ comments. Malthouse said Smart's ploy to harp on Collingwood's reputation of failure in grand finals had only "confused us".
"I've not got the intelligence to work through that," Malthouse said.
"He's still got me with that one. I might not be as alert as Nigel. We've certainly not taken it to heart."
