A great loss. He was one of the rare breed - a motor racing commentator who was not on an ego trip, who knew what he was talking about and who was a pleasure to listen to.

totally agree with MIke and 2 Pies in Cairns. I always enjoyed Barry Sheen's commentarys and he was sorely missed yesterday at the F1 Grand Prix, now he'll be missed forever more. My condolences to his family and friends.

Can remember 2 years ago he ate at the resturant i cook at with Mick Doohan and had the Waiters in stiches he was so funny!

He was a great personality and was very brave as he didnt want to go through any therapy for his cancer, he wanted to fight it eating heathy and exercising.

The guy was simply a great bloke.

About 3 years ago, a mate and I struck up a conversation with him at the Grand Prix. We were all talking for ages and he probably had much better things to be doing. We told him we were going to a fairly exclusive party that night and asked if he'd like to join us.

We grabbed his mobile number and called him from the party that night. We expected a fob off, but lo and behold, Barry rocked up about half an hour later and sought us out.

Just a genuine bloke who loved life. A decent, genuine bloke.
