Im a lil tired of people who have nothing better to do than bitch and carry on with our version of this song, its all in fun and its not intended to harm anyone..ITS ONLY FUN..in this age of plastic people who ejaculate over political correctness i have 2 words GET STUFFED.

Those who know me especially know i am no where near to what you might call a racist..calling someone a daigo is not being racist, daigo is a fantastic aussie slang that has been around for a long long time, i have friends who are italian and find no offence with the term daigo, we are the daigo blues we are the old dark daigo blues is our version of the carlton club song and we're just taking the piss out of them.

My god if i was offended at what i get called every game i wouldnt bloody go to any games.
Get real people and get a bloody life we now live in a fake plastic society where its an offence to fart whilst standing at the urinal..Remember life is fun and without fun life is shit..and if anyone believes the term 'daigo' is racist or offensive well give it away your life must be so bloody boring it wouldnt be worth talking about.

Pleae note to all you dickheads who will read this whilst standing on your high moral matchbox..go for it im not going to entertain your false egos with any more replies.
WE'RE just having fun and if your offended, Its you who have the problem not any of us guys.

Tessa,

I first heard that song in 1985 when I first joined the cheer squad and word has it that it had been used since the early 70's.

Dago is not the offensive term that it was many years ago and I beleive that there are very few people who would be offended by it.

As Joffa said - it's all a bit of fun!! Get over it!!

Well said Joffa Smile

Im sick of hearing people on their moral high horses and trying to be politically correct. Its a bit of fun and if people can't make the distinction then they have problems.

Oh no we upset Carlton supporters. What were we thinking :O

Carlton should direct their anger at John Elliot.......lol

None of my Carlton friends have taken offence at the song. They know its all in fun and dont really care.

YOU CAN PLEASE SOME OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME AND ALL OF THE PEOPLE SOME OF THE TIME, BUT YOU CAN'T PLEASE ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME

I used to sing the dago blues back when i was in the cheer sqaud in the early 70's..................and still do whenever i hear it being played.

Its not meant to offend anyone except carlton supporters........and they are fair game. It is not a racist song just a mock up song. I am sorry if people take offence at it, but.............
Some people should get thicker skins!!!!!!!!!

If people take offence to it, well they need to get out more!
it is not a term of racism it is only a bit of fun and if these people can`t take well then they are in great need of running down the street to get a life

None of my Carlton friends ....??

You are joking, aren't you, JLC ? Lol. Lol.

One wonders. If you do take the Mickey out of Carlton, would the Roos take him back ?

OMG look everyone knows that Footy brings bagging cheering booing etc etc if we can take abuse and songs and booing etc from other teams then why can they take it from us?

If they r getting cut then they shouldnt dish it out....hey they gotta remember that only a few years ago they were in the situation we were and im sure for those who remember they wouldnt let us live it down so now that we r up and they r down tell me we would be even more pleased with all this funni stuff!!

The song is funni it gives a good laugh and if ppl take it easily then they gotta realise going for a footy team other than the pies of course they r gonna attract a bit of crap from our supporters!!

IMO this thread should be deleted.

All it needs is one moron from somewhere else, to pick out about this and the whole thing gets blown out of proportion.

I can see it now.

There has been nothing raised here that we don't already know/realise.

As a woman, I could find many things said/sung at the footy offensive - there is always something to offend someone so pfft to the whole thing.

Jen

Well said, Greg.

Apart from there being a possible racist issue in this song - I haven't heard it so cannot comment on that - I ask again: Why bother with put downs of any opposition!??

Let our team do that on the field and then sing our bloody hearts out - for Collingwood !!

The version of this song started up because carlton had a lot of Italian supporters in the 60's, 70's.......It was like if you were italian you barricked for the blues. That has changed now but the words of the song "you know we're carlton cause our banners are in Italian" were directly because of the amount of Ethnic supporters Carlton had.
Its a fun song, and not meant to be offensive to anyone....but just to have a go a the blues.......and they are fair game!!!!!!!

I thought people would have more important issues in their life then to worry about the Carlton song that we sing.
