Round Four Injury Update:
Collingwood’s Head of High-Performance Jarrod Wade has provided an Injury Update ahead of Sunday’s Round Four Gather Round clash versus Hawthorn.

Forward Nathan Kreuger has completed his rehab program in his recovery from the hamstring injury he suffered during the pre-season. The 24-year-old has cleared gym and running-based markers, and pending he clears match play at training this week, he will be available for selection.
Young Ruck Oscar Steene continues to make his way through the 12-step concussion protocols after suffering concussion from a head knock during a VFL pre-season game.
The 20-year-old has partaken in non-contact, team training and is expected to continue to progress each step of the protocol over the coming weeks.
Last year’s draft pick 25 Harry DeMattia is making steady progress in his recovery from a finger injury that saw him miss the end of the pre-season and start of the season. The 18-year-old has returned to some football drills, with tackling and building grip strength the key markers in the next stage of his recovery.
Supplementary Selection Period signing Josh Eyre has reached the halfway point in his rehab from a hamstring injury. The 199cm defender will look to ramp up his running speed after completing a large volume of running over the past weeks. The 21-year-old remains a number of weeks away from being involved in team training, and at least four weeks away from making a return.
Defender Nathan Murphy continues to work on his confidence in his return from concussion, as he completes a number of indoor and outdoor sessions with the focus of returning to contact and match play.
Key forward Dan McStay is now four and half months post-surgery on his ACL and has been able to reach a number of key milestones within that time.McStay is now at the stage where he can begin getting involved in some of the low-level football drills, including easy kick and move drills that don’t feature a large amount of change of direction and agility.

Moore, Murphy and Beggy missed training today. Nathan hasn't trained for a week and Moore was said by club to be ill but some sources quoted tight hammy.

Not sure what confidence Murph needs to build. Concussions come from unpredictable events. Not sure how you train to avoid concussion.
I reckon he's cooked.

Kreuger could be available for selection this week. Good news.
Give him a few games in the VFL. If he stays fit, he could be useful

Nah, disagree. Write Murph off at your peril! He will make a well managed comeback to the team later this season. The club has put in many resources and support to help him recover and ensure his return to playing.

Jakob Ryan injury update
The 19-year-old sustained a fracture to the fifth metacarpal in his left hand at training on Wednesday.

^rotten luck as I was hoping he'd be pushing for selection by mid-year. All going well it shouldn't be any more than 5 weeks with splint and rest. It's also called a boxers break as it often results from punching. I did one years ago, more of a nuisance.than anything.
At least will be able to keep his aerobic fitness during recovery.

Ok that seems to be a weakness in our depth now. that small / medium half back role.

IQ, Maynard, Noble, Daicos, Crisp, WHE, Howe all in the 23 at the moment. Unsure if the likes of Bytel or Harrison could go to HB. Markov looked just as out of touch in the VFL as he did in the AFL last week as the only other option.

Why do our finger injuries:
* McStay: missed 8 weeks in 2023
* Demattia: 10 weeks this year
* Now Ryan 5-7 weeks

Steven May gets virtually murdered insofar as two broken ribs and vertebrae issues and misses a week!!!

Jarrod Wade did not mention Ryan at all in his weekly injury update. Wondering why? The better news is that Krueger is back and ready to play seconds and that McStay and Murphy are both very close to coming back.

surely the fake midweek hamstring unsighted by any is no longer an excuse for an illicit drugs strike. Can't fathom that you would taint all other players with a genuine injury by lying.

I do not trust the AFL

Expecting Pendles and Mitchell to be added to the injury list this week. Pendles for Ribs and Mitchell for hip although he played out the match fortunately for us.
