I purchased a chipper and I love it. It's very much like a fat head putter. I use it close to the green.

Speaking of Wildlife, at Churchill Park near me we have Kangaroos and I sliced one into a huge male surrounded by his Harem. I left it as a lost ball. Laughing

If you blokes ever get the travel bug and want to take the sticks, one of the best trips I did was the Pies / Adelaide match, blended with 3 rounds of golf over as many days.
There's some cracking golf courses there. Also, a winery or two...

^^Mornington Peninsula has great courses and wineries. Bayviews is ranked in the top 100 courses in Australia and I enjoy playing there.

Royal Bundoora has a few Roos, Tocumwal has Roos, Kookaburras and lots of long billed Corella's. Toc also has the option where you can call the club while on course and order food and booze which you can collect and take with you on the round.

^ you're not wrong there. One of our golf trips was 13th Beach, Barwon Heads and The Sands. Cracking courses. I just remember the wind at Barwon, I somehow scratched together a round in gale like conditions. At 13th Beach I remember I hit a driver out of the screws, a flushed 3 iron and was still short of the green on a par 4.
Didn't get time to hit the wineries, had a few funny nights in Geelong.
We always have Saturday night at a local Chinese restaurant, frivolity is assured.
Pretty keen to get down and play Lonsdale Links.

Heading out to the Australian PGA Championship at Royal QLD today. I reckon Adam Scott and Rafa Cabrera Bello will be the big movers today.

As a teenager I used to play with dad on Friday afternoons when he was a member at Amstel near Cranbourne (have I got the name of the course right?). When I was a wee tacker, I used to caddy for him at Beacon Hills.

When I was about 14 I got a small set for my birthday and played almost every day of the school holidays at the public golf course at the bottom of Waverley Rd next to Jells Park (Waverley Public??). It used to be something like 5 bucks for 18 holes for under-18s!

First actual round today since the complete overhaul of the action. Shot 56 off the stick, absolute bag of licorice allsorts but I could see progress. Slice is mainly gone, comes back sometimes but now I have a hook when I don't quite get it tight. When I got it right, absolutely flushed a few.

More practice required.

Haven’t ever played a game, my limited experience at driving range 20 years ago was ugly as I couldn’t get out of cricket mode 😂😂

Ha.

On reflection, most of the damage today was on 3 holes. The 1st, 3rd and 9th, all Par 4's on which I got 9, 8 and 7 respectively. The other 6 were 5 bogies and 1 double bogie.

Hit 2 cracking shots on the dog leg par 5 which put me an 8 iron from the green and a shot at a birdie. unfortunately I chose a 7 iron, flushed it and put it left under trees which took me 2 more shots to get on the green.

Chipping from 30m was very hot and cold but putting was good, only 14 putts for the 9 holes.Should have been less but I was slow to adapt to the greens being slower than usual.

45 off the stick this arvo, didn't play well at all, can't put my finger on it. Possibly the wind was blowing strong and sub-consciously trying to make allowances for it.

Hey Laurie, were you following Cam Smith? Would have been interesting.

Only saw Smith briefly. He was fairly chopping it up, reflective of him missing the cut. When your appearance fee is more than the prize pool, perhaps his motivation wasn't there. Given that he was seen at the Breakfast Creek Hotel the night before might suggest where his head was at. The $100m from LIV he has in the bank should see him sleep OK at night.
I reckon he'll fire at the Aust Open though.

We followed Scotty's group for 9 holes. He's still got one of the best swings in the game.
Post that we parked ourselves midway on the 17th, that way you could see the tee-shots and their finishes. That was a brutal hole with regards to pin placement and the wind. There couldn't have been many birdies on that yesterday.

Some lightning strikes today, no golf for me. Mind you that old joke is, play with a 1 iron, not even God can hit that.

That was a Lee Trevino joke. 'If you're caught in a lightning strike, hold a one iron in the air, not even God could hit a one iron!!

The 17th party hole seems to be going off in Brissy today. Pity Bob Shearer and Ian Stanley aren't around nowadays. They would of loved it.
