| Post subject: Collingwood still on top |  |

This issue has historically divided the Nicksters and probably will continue to do so. Collingwood has again been voted the most hated team by other AFL club supporters. I have always loved this aspect, especially when we win the flag or win big games against traditional rivals. However when we are not in such a dominant position, I think only a few of us can give back as much as we get from the ferals. Long may this tradition remain intact!

I remember a few years ago people started to give us some sympathy for our poor performance.
The sympathy upset me more than our form.
Can't have a competition that is all technical and no emotion.
It is the emotion you want from a tribal sport like aussie rules.
To be hated is to be blessed.
May we have another hundred years of this!!!!! |

To me, your comments about the emotional nature of footy are spot on and my thoughts on the sympathy issue are identical. I really hated the fact that we were being hated less. I could be wrong but I have got the impression that our younger magpie supporters don’t receive the same hatred responses towards Collingwood that us older fans got and grew up with. I would be extremely upset if we ever lost the most hated title and the famous claim to fame. Long may others continue to hate Collingwood 😎 🤓 😛

I might be in the minority, but I'm not fussed either way if we're the most hated club or not.
I just find sometimes the "us against them" mentality has worn us down in the past. The club sometimes used to lean into it too much for my liking, without backing it up with any substance in the form of premiership success.
I find the last two years has been more refreshing. No one obviously wanted us to succeed outside the club, but there's a begrudging respect of the manner of our performances and what we've produced under Fly.

Over a quarter of responses to our prompt selected Collingwood, truly encapsulating the ‘us against them’ mentality.
Essendon came in next at 14.4%, with Carlton at 14.1% and Geelong at 8.6% to round out the top four.
Gold Coast received the least votes at 0.4%, with North Melbourne at 1.2% and Fremantle at 1.4%.
We also asked in the survey who your second favourite team is, with GWS leading the way at 18.1%.
The Suns came in second at 10.6% and Brisbane at 10.1%. The Western Bulldogs at 7.6% and St Kilda at 5.9% were the next highest results.
Essendon received the fewest ‘second favourite team’ votes at just 1.8%.

100% jezza.
i think what we have been through oppo fans are kind of have a begrugeing respect towards us.
but these days i dot care what others think of us any more why waste thought space.
as long as we play good footy and be good supporters and be a good club this all that matters.
its out of our or my control what others think about us. |

i aways go on the theme of if they feel sorry for us we suck on field and if they hate us we are good on field.
they hate us now as we are doing things right its that simple.
i dont mind it at all keep on doing it i say |
