Disappointing for the Matildaās but they will still have their highest finish in a World Cup.
This will also be Englandās best finish as they have never got past the semi final stage.
Matildaās will play Sweden on Saturday night for 3rd or 4th.
England play Spain on Sunday night for the title. _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

Great effort to get to this point. Clearly outclassed and outcoached by a very impressive England squad.
The AFL (the Rebels) would have been given a fright from FIFA (the Empire).
It'll be interesting to see what FIFA and soccer Australia do from here and the AFL's response within the AFLW community infrastructure.
While this competition was a better watch given the skill level, the domestic competition will be no better than the AFLW, and as it stands its a hard watch.
But participation is the key to all sport, and having the WWC this year gives FIFA and the local competition a huge promotional boost. _________________ "The Club's not Jock, Ted and Gerry" (& Eddie)

Well I be barracking hard for the Matildas although itās the loserās final unfortunately. But they have done much better than anyone expected and even though I donāt think they can beat Sweden tonight, they can stand tall and proud. Top effort. _________________ I term the current Collingwood attack based strategy āUnceasing Wavesā like on a stormy and windy day with rough seas. A Perfect Storm āļø |

Lost 2-0 to Sweden.
Sweden played much better and the Matildaās were done after their last 2 games. Played out of their skins against France which took a bit too much out of them. Plus they did not have the quality in the their 2nd tier players like England.
Still their best finish a World Cup.
England are in the box seat to win their 1st World Cup as Spain are a bit of a shambles of the pitch (players not happy with the manager) . _________________ If you are foolish enough to be contented, don't show it, but just grumble with the rest. - Jerome K Jerome |

England did Australia a big favour knocking them out in the semi. Spain would have mauled them 6-nil the way they are completely dominating England. Spain leading 1-nil in the first half, but it could easily be 3-1. England hit the crossbar once, but that's the only time they even looked like scoring. This Spanish team is a machine having already scored 18 goals in the tournament.
The cup is not coming home England - again.

That was all before the cup squad was picked. They look alright to me. But then Spain being Spain could possibly pick two competitive teams.
That's the problem with Australia, we have no depth. |

Never in doubt. England are the chokers of world soccer I'm afraid. Have been since 1966. Sounds like Colliwobbles to me. |
