Derek Hine was clearly stoked in getting Ed Allen. Marvellous. _________________ “I even went as far as becoming a Southern Baptist until I realised they didn’t keep ‘em under long enough” Kinky Friedman |

Yes it was the first thing that went thru my mind! |
Despite his stress fracture issues was still able to break a 14 yr old record at for 20m sprint and recorded the 2nd best time ever.
Time will tell of course but in a sense this is a classic Hine bolter selection but on the other hand it’s not given he is a midfielder who is tall and quick and may end up being a versatile player who can play anywhere. _________________ Human behavioural studies suggest people who use a lot of swear words tend to be more honest & trustworthy. |

All picks are speculative, but in this case, there's a lot to like about him. Fingers crossed we've added a 10 yr player to our list! |

He apparently grew about 20cm in two years. It is hardly surprising that he got stress fractures in his back as a result... _________________ "You must be a parking ticket, cuz you got fine written all over you" Glen Quagmire |

Stress fractures common for developing young players training to play at top level. Fortunately, with Ed can now be placed on a training program that can take this into account. Excellent prospect. |

The Allan potential
Cory Gault had a growth spurt, but his best ended up below AFL par.
It is possible Allan will suffer the same fate.. Nevertheless, the growth spurt could be our silver lining.
he was passed over for good reasons.. back problem and not much to go on this year.
It gets worse... if he was 20 cm shorter up until recently, there isn't even a junior record for recruiters to refer to.
I seriously believe we can't judge him objectively.
Can't blame clubs with earlier picks being worried.
He could in fact end up being better than the Bont or Jordy.
Considering what he had gone through, a back problem and comes back from that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
goodness me ... That's standout natural class

Can’t believe I’ve read about 12 pages on the draft and nobody has dropped the classic line: “In Hine we trust”.
I actually do trust Hine… and I reckon you take the best player if he’s available regardless of an injury background and the ‘go home’ factor. Who’d have thought Ollie Henry was a flight risk being from that far flung town of Geelong.
Allan is a good pick I reckon. If he’s half as good as Patty Cripps (also from W.A but very happy in Victoria) I’ll be wrapped. _________________ 'Collingwood are the Bradmans of Football'

Geez looks a bit of a speculative pick, 6 games in the late season...I guess that's better than 6 early games, then getting the injury.
Good stock, very good stock, if he is as good as the old man I'll be happy.
But like many here, I get concerned by the phrase 'natural athlete' _________________ "You hate a mean man, a grasping man, a man who wants everything and gives nothing. That’s Collingwood. They are a law unto themselves"

We seem to have a thing for these tall utility players. Reef, Trey, and now Ed.
NFI where we intend to play them, but they all are quick off the mark, can play tall or short, hopefully they all come on. I like the look of the kid, Welcome to Collingwood Ed. _________________ Every dead body on Mt Everest was once a highly motivated person, so maybe just calm the **** down. |
