Could someone please tell me what picks we have in the 2023 draft ?

16, 25, 27, 51

Thanks Btp, I meant what draft picks do we have in next years draft, Im hoping we hung on to our future first round pick.

Future first rounder only at this stage. No big deal to only have one pick at this stage, particularly since it’s the one you want to keep.

Our 22' Draft picks 16,25,27 & 51 give us a collective 2,785 points or equivalent of pick 2.

All going well we'll roll 3 picks (16,25,27) into one, the equivalent of 2,526 points, still the equivalent of pick 2. (not suggesting that's where that where we will land)

What does that get us, well over to G.Wright. We might just yet secure that elusive future KPP from this years draft.
Then those still out of contract, rookie list Madgen with pick 51.

That sounds a plan LH, but aren't all clubs required to draft 3 players?

Trade period is over so now we prepare to train our butts off over the pre-season and prepare to launch our Premiership winning season from week 1.

Yep main aim is a young talented KPP and a forward KPP at that a nice young centre half forward be nice and a tall mobile one.
Mark the ball no matter what and a huge precise kick on goals at that.
Young spearhead you would say.

Thats the plan huge bumper pre season at that.

Weight work the key and then move onto the ground for that important goal kicking drills.

Have a 2 weeks holiday then its back to work

Grundy taking a pay cut with Melbourne but pay not even discussed with Collingwood

Goes to show when a club really wants to keep a player, they find a way.

Food for thought when judging past decisions. And future.

It would be nice to get Phillips back! Smile

I have not followed his (mis)fortunes.
Does anyone know what happened to him since his departure from Collingwood?

Got injured this year and missed most of the season after playing every game for the Hawks in 2021 (although he had already been dropped a couple of weeks before the injury, so perhaps form was also a factor).

https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/afl-trade-news-2022-tom-phillips-hawthorn-hawks-future-contract-injuries-updates-delisted-players/news-story/e4acdafd709da364a9a2e6afbfe26c55

Quote:
A confident Phillips vowed the “hunger and fire is there” but also said he does have other options should his short-term future lie outside of the AFL.

“I’m super clear, looking back on what I have done and where my growth and improvement lies, as every footballer and athlete does,” Phillips said.

“I’m really bullish about getting back to my best football if given the opportunity. I’m in a really good frame of mind at the moment.

As a sidenote, is "bullish" one of those words that only AFL players, coaches and commentators use? I swear I've never heard it in any other context. Laughing

Post subject: Our Indicative Draft Order as of October 12, 2022Reply with quote

Our current indicative draft order is;
Pick 16 - first round selection
Pick 25 and 27 - second round selections
Pick 51 - third round selection.
Hopefully we can jag a few sliders with pick 16, 25 and 27 and a Hale Mary one with pick 51

Apparently our fitness guy reckons last year's pre-season regime will be considered a picnic compared to what he has in store for our boys this summer!! Laughing

How about Tom Phillips if he is around at 51?

Whatever the preseason “medicine “ dished out 2022 preseason it had them running on top of the ground whilst most opponents were knackered

So the old saying boys “When ya on a good thing stick to it”

Really if they invest in it like last year there is no reason that they can’t repeat (and improve on) 2022

I was optimistic-then keen - then confident as 2022 unpacked

Now I’m starting confident for 2023

The feeling is best I’ve felt in a long time. Can’t wait
