Feel free to move other threads into here so home owners can discuss the ongoing costs of home ownership.

I'll start....anyone installed motorised roller shutters? If so, what was your experience?

Yeah we installed 5 of them at our last place before we sold. We had 2 summers out them. Can highly recommend. Kept heat out whilst the splitties were blaring. Kept room in darkness when needed also filtered light when required.

Our Heeler dog would crack it when operating though, not the shutters fault!!

More to stop sun, wind, rain, particularly on West facing part of the house.

I've been thinking about getting them, as much for security as anything as I plan to leave the house empty for extended periods in the future, although I agree they don't look pretty.

Are they very pricey?

I paid around 1200 on average each, some were 3metre, others 1.5m. Very competitive.

The guy I got was John's Shutters in Keysborough. Easy to look up, whether he does your area, not sure.

Cheers mate, quick maths said I'd be paying upwards of $10k so I'll pass for now.
