Being reported that the pies have “Upped their bid”

If DeGoey leaves doesn’t recruiting McStay and Mitchell seem pointless? I think Mitchell could be good at Collingwood but only in addition to what we have. If it’s Jordy out and Mitchell in that’s a step backwards.

I’d be surprised if we’ve got the money to pay him. Even if say Hawthorn chip in 300k of his salary for next year, how are we going to find the 800k to pay him in 2024? And I’d expect he won’t leave Hawthorn for less than a 4 year contract. That’s 800k for a 33 year old in his final year. The sums don’t add up. Having said that a few things in his favor. He’s rarely injured and his output in 2022 was only down because Sam Mitchell has changed his role.

I dont think so, Adams needs help in the middle so Mitchell is a good pick up there which should cost SFA.
McStay frees up Checkers who is already undersized. It means he doesnt have to do all the bang crash things he's had to do. Good pick up for mine. Either can play back if needed as well.
Losing JDG gives us a bit of a line breaking mid problem, he hasnt really played fwd all season. That said its not like he has put it all together and been top 5 in our B&F before so its actually NOT that bigger a loss.

Good pick up if he doesn’t cost too much. Good addition to DeGoey and Adams in the centre. We should be able to claim back the $1 mil his dad owes us for an underwhelming year “in the olden days”

Tom has never had less contractual "hand" or love from the AFL world. Sam Mitchell doesn't want him, preferring Newcombe in the guts this year who has superior spread. The Hawks want him "off" the books, Tom wants to play for a contender, sees a gap in our midfield and would gladly smooth out his deal of $800,000 for 2023 to a 3 year $1,600,000 deal with us only needing to give up a pick in the 40's where we have 3 of them.

Adams (like DeGoey) cannot be relied upon to play 20+ matches and Tom is an endurance beast.

I’d take him in a heartbeat. We’ve missed a clearance player all year.

So, combined with Adams, that'll be 2, well past their best midfielders, providing around 50, mostly useless possessions, per week. What's not to like?

And to think we could still have Treloar. Mitchell is hardly an upgrade.

Mitchell = a slightly slower Treloar . Give and go handballs, around the body kicks to nobody... to me he is the antithesis of our team play, he likes to delay, go backwards and call for ridiculous possessions. But as in everything, in Fly I trust because he has got players playing in his system how he wants it to run.

WHY?? is it that Collingwood don't have enough money, yet Richmond are about to embark of getting ,not one, but TWO $1mil / year players on 6 year deals as well as paying Martin $1.4 mil for another 2 years. I'm tipping Tom Lynch isn't on the basic wage and Bolton could command $1mil at just about any club not to mention what their backline players are getting.Same goes for Geelong and Carlton. How is that WE are up shit creek paying one bloke a front ended $1mil/ year contract??. Get rid of the list cloggers to free up the cannot the stars. They got rid of 4,now another 4 and the 2 wantaways and we're set.

Take the report with a grain of salt. It's spin and more likely the club has said no but is keen on him so this is like a game of chess. I always say, when they run out in black and white you can say it's a done deal.
