Ok, here we go. Trade period opens up at 9am.

What can we expect from here? Hopefully some early moves by the club, but usually we dont see a lot of movement until later.

-Will Grundy be traded, what for? How much of his wage do we chip in?
-Will Mitchell, Hill, Frampton and Fiorini be traded in?
-Will Henry be traded out? Again, what will the rerun be?
-Are there going to be any surprises?

All these questions will be answered in the next ten days.

I wonder if we will end up paying less for Grundy and get less in return... Melbourne's first pick currently #33 - and I know they are expecting to get some high picks for Jackson - just wondering if they want to try and keep a higher pick for themselves? Which would mean paying more wage and giving us a second rounder (for example). However, their cap is surely bulging...

Be nice to see McStay, Frampton and Hill all get done quick - I don't think they are dependent on anything else now that JDG has signed up.

The one certainty is that there will be a trade that no one foresaw. Always a surprise happens, maybe on the last day of trading, which is the result of secret talks that have been going on.

Win the flag and still end up with 2 first round picks including a pick inside the top 10.

They’re freaks.

I know they have a lot of farms down Geelong way, but even that can’t explain all the bullshit

Good - hopefully that means we can get a better return than pick 18 for Ollie Henry

Yes I think this truly stinks of something being done to manipulate the salary cap. You can’t expect all their players to happily accept 20% cuts to their salaries just to bring in player after player after they have just won the flag. You have to be pretty naive to believe that. Something smells worse than a dead rat next to a dead skunk 👃

Nope, the pick they’ll get with Bowes will go for Bruhn. Geelong supporters are being obnoxious re Ollie — reckon he’s only worth a late pick. And when they get him they’ll claim he’s as good as Ablett.

Then we don't trade Ollie.
Work on him after the draft to convince him to stay.

Yes I agree. Back our ability to negotiate with him and change his mind. This should not be seen as a done deal. Plenty to play out.

The Age reporting (today's trade blog): "Football department chief Graham Wright says the Magpies are disappointed in Ollie Henry’s decision to seek a trade to Geelong and still hope to retain the young forward."

'Cause they don't do 7 year/$7m contracts... Hawkins got paid <$300k this year.
