Deserves his own thread! None of us are surprised he won, he’s been a marvel! It’s the best debut I’ve seen from a Collingwood player in recent memory.

Love watching how he goes about it. Has a maturity way beyond his years. His; decision making, ball use, gut running and football smarts is sensational. Get on him for the Brownlow next season as soon as a market is posted. _________________ Don't count the days, make the days count. |

I reckon he will become our direct replacement for Pendles as our general in the midfield. However, he probably needs another year building up his physical strength before taking on that role full-time.
To have one so talented father/son player of such a champion as the 'Macedonial Marvel' is amazing, but to have two is absolutely incredible. I expect Josh and Nick to become the best brother combination ever, not just at Collingwood, but in the history of the VFL/AFL. They both ooze class and will only get better. It's not beyond the realm of possibility that they could even become captain and vice-captain of our club in 2-3 yrs. |

Congrats to Nick.
I was worried with so little footy ( Covid ) before his draft year would hamper his true potential in his first senior year but that clearly didn’t happen.
He’s a pure midfielder and even more importantly, he’s always been a goal kicking midfielder. We haven’t seen that yet but that’s his next level. It won’t take much for him to be kicking 20 goals plus a year once he settles in as a full time mid. |

His first half of the season was fantastic in the context of a first year player but I still found myself waiting to be wowed by his performances.
Consider me now wowed.
Jesus, if he's this damn good in year 1 I can't wait for the finished product. _________________ He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD! |

Thoroughly deserved. Clearly the best first year player this year.

What a gun and what a football family. His dad was my childhood hero, and I always wore the number 35 on my back as a kid. I couldn't be happier that we've got this lad and his brother at the Pies, not to mention they're gun players and look like quality lads.
I think a lot of people forget how many bad injuries the Marvel had, which led him to play so much of his career as a small forward. His Premiership year where he played as a small-tall is still massively underrated to this day. Bags of goals week after week, not to mention the goal against the Eagles and two huge grand final goals including the all-important ice breaker against the flow of play.
I was remembering the other day that years ago when I was a kid his grandfather (Peter's dad) wandered into our house opposite VFL Park while it was being built to get out of the rain after a game, and we had a right old yarn with him about the Macedonian Marvel.
And so, here we are. I always had a sense listening to Peter talk about his kids that he was a doting dad who put everything he had into them. But Peter has always seemed like a mature and respectful character (and was always the fairest commentator), so hearing Nick say his dad is really humble and never pushed anything on them makes perfect sense. It was always going to bode well should they take up footy.
Now watching them you can see they live and breathe footy. The excitement they show after a goal or win is gold. One of the highlights of the season was not just Jamie's goal against Essendon, but Nick screaming and jumping on him with excitement. That told me everything I needed to know about what the club and the team mean to him.
An absolute gun of a player of a calibre we've all envied over the years at other clubs. But he also strikes you as a great kid, brother, and team player.
It's an incredible footy story, with both of the boys having the groundedness to achieve incredible things. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Absolutely. That's a completely different kind of story, but it's huge recognition from the football community. How good were those goals last week? His skills and smarts, and ability to energise the team and wear opposition pressure, are massive.
Two entirely different but incredible seasons from young players. _________________ In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Many people say: knew he was good, but didn't know he can be so good.
Well, he will be even better, and much better. |
