Port Adelaide into the VFL (or nationwide reserves league)

If they come to the VFL or a new nationwide reserves comp begins, will they need to change to Port Power, or will the request to be the Port Magpies?

Bit to play out here, but I think a new reserves league is on the cards. Which raises questions for stand alone clubs; Werribee, Port Melb, Willy, etc.

I hope they move to the VFL for one year under the Port Power banner.

Then return to the SAFL in 2024. And when they return, the SANFL (and other sporting bodies) agree that they have only been apart of that competition for only one year starting in 2024, thus ignoring their selective history.

Port Adelaide Magpies play in the SANFL, Port Adelaide Power in the AFL.

If Port Power decide to play their reserves in the national seconds/VFL league, it would be as Port Power, meaning Port Adelaide Magpies are gone.

I have found the expansion of the VFL to other states a bit hard to keep up with, and it does seem like it’s headed towards a national reserves comp, which perhaps in turn opens up a space for a return of the VFA.

Personally, I was never much of a fan of that original reserves/VFL merger twenty years ago and think that this could be a positive development.

Love the Power, would be happy to see them join in. A good working class team with a rich history of involvement in working class and Indigenous communities.

The only team in the AFL worthy of secondary support.
