Obviously we need a win, but I'm also hoping we can begin to improve our percentage by belting these mongrels. Having said that, a one point win will be fine. Cool

No change to our team. Pies by 42 points.

I feel this is a danger game though. Having said that a 1 point win or 6 goal win, I will take!

We have not beaten GWS since 2018 Semi Final.

They have won the last 4 matches against us, so time to change that.

Hawthorn was a danger game
Carlton was a danger game
Fremantle was a danger game
Melbourne was a danger game

They’re all danger games

Our next 6 games are all winnable. Doesn’t mean I expect to win them all but we *should* win more than we lose. Then if we pinch 1 of our last 3, we will be a decent chance to make finals - which I definitely didn’t expect at start of the year

Enjoy the ride. Pies by 22 points

Have to win this if we want to play finals.

Giants have improved since Leon Cameron resigned. They've kicked 138, 96, 102 and 105 points since McVeigh became the caretaker coach.

Our record against the Giants has been poor for a few years, which will invoke some anxiety for the supporters.

I think the Gold Coast match the following week will be a bigger challenge for us.

‘Vitamins’ McViegh and Hird have certainly injected some performance enhancements since their arrival

What a shithouse time for a game, late Sunday arvo, no wonder crowd attendences have are way down. Just watch at home, on Kayo, warm, roaring fire, and a nice red or two. We owe these bastards bigtime, cannot recall our last win, was it 2018 Finals ?? Thank God that lout Mummy has retired, he played well against us always, a thug, monstered our players, hes finally retired. Be close game, but home ground will assist us.

Magpies by 22 points. Ginnivan to kick five goals.

So far, GWS has beaten the teams ranked 11th, 15th, 17th and 18th and lost their other games. We really should account for them conmfortably. Since the last time we played them, all of Sier, Mayne, Greenwood and Thomas have been put out tio pasture. Roughead has also been forced to retire. Madgen probably won't play on Greene. Finlayson won't tear us up this time and Callan Ward probably won't get 37 disposals to Adams' 12 twice in a row.

We will also field a potentially functional forwad line - that's something we haven't done against GWS since 2017. We've kicked just 57 goals in 6 matches against them since then.

And just as the Pies are a different side ( thankfully ) so are the Giants.
They’ve owned us in the past when Cameron has been their spearhead and backed up by Himmelberg and / or Finlayson. Two are gone and Himmelberg is now playing good footy in the backline. The K P P duo of Hogan and Riccardi pose far less concerns. Whitfield is a shadow of his former self and Hopper hasn’t played all year. Preuss and Peatling ( who has been very good as a goal kicker ) will miss from last week. Taranto will likely be back but their backline remains very vulnerable, especially against quality small forwards. If Flynn ( ruck ) doesn’t pass his test, the Giants will go into the ruck with Keefe as their ruck.
As per usual, it’s Toby Greene who poses the biggest threat playing more as a forward this year. Nobody reads an incoming ball better than Greene and his opponent ( surely Maynard ) needs to sacrifice his own game in order to keep Greene off the scoreboard.
The biggest challenge for Collingwood will be before the opening bounce. If they come fully switched on after the break, they will likely win comfortably. Anything less and the Giants could surprise.

Maynard has got to start on Greene , IQ is still too young for this gig. Pruest out is a bonus.
