So nonsensical is this comment that it reads like an attempt at comedy from someone who's had a bong or two too many. Polarising player that he is, he certainly finishes much higher than he should, because those who cannot see all his failings will vote for him however badly he plays, but those who in your opinion are biased against him cannot actually give him negative votes to cancel out the undeserved votes from the other side. |

Have you ever voted in the medal Willy? It's a great leveller mate, its called democracy. People take it quite seriously, as they should. If you check each week I think you will find that the overall top 3 would be listed in any other match review you could find. So I think your attempt at comedy is barking up the wrong tree and you are not giving Nick's football watchers and judges enough credit. _________________ Get back on top. |

Grundy is a gun AA ruck, absolute no comparison with Cameron and/or Cox.
In 2021 he averaged more hit outs than any other ruckman in the comp.
In 2020 he was 2nd behind Gawn.
In 2019 he was 2nd behind Witts.
In 2018 he was 2nd behind Gawn.
How can there be any discussion than Cameron or Cox have gone past him as #1 ruck. _________________ Manassa is on the 50m, fakes the handball. He's going to shoot for goal, and he's put it through! HE'S PUT IT THROUGH. By golly what an individual effort. Thats got to be the GOAL OF THE CENTURY. |

This thread is no doubt a direct follow up to some great form both Cameron and Coxy have shown in the last month without Grundy and how successful the team has been. Being one that loves Grundy but not in agreement with a high end contract he is playing to, and all the ramifications and salary cap issues we have had. It is easy to critically look at Grundy’s contribution over the last two seasons. The fact that we have been losing in centre clearances (especially against top sides) and that many times Grundy’s taps were going down the throat of the opposition players one tends to thinks about our ruck and clearance play. With the C’s recent contribution the question is can we play all 3 at the same time? Grundy’s great attributes in my mind are
1 his endurance, he will wear any ruckman in the comp down
2 strength in a contest, especially at ground level
3 He is a reasonable kick and more than average kicking for goal
4 he is a good tackler and his presence in the contested ball is an advantage.
I loved the leigh Brown role Malthouse implemented leading up to our 2010 flag That physical presence around the contested ball allowed Pendles and Swanny protection and added physicality to our defensive tackling pressure. McRae game style is not based on a a kick to the boundary to Browns or Jolly’s advantage but a running collective plan where The break is usually initiated by a pin point threading kick that can be initiated by our two running halfbacks IQ Noble or The Daics boys and or the rolls Royce Pendles himself, mostly up the guts. Clearly someone that can kick!!. Grundy being a good link and running player could play a number of roles during a single match A big bodied midfielder around ruck contests who can also link in rebounding moves; The go to contested mark when the ball is driven out of defence; Or the standard Ruckman role which he plays and shares with Cox or Cameron but in a reduced in playing time manner. Can’t wait to see how Fly deals with it all. |

Because winning hitouts means absolutely nothing if they go to the opposition.
When GWS beat us in the final in 2019, he had 75 hitouts, where did they all go?
Fact is the team was struggling before he got injured, now people think we can play finals. |

They’re positioned low on the ladder which gives them draft pick trade currency.
Take their first pick and a second rounder / player and do the deal Pies!
Cox isn’t the answer, but Cameron / Begg might be. Or we can grab a half decent ruck from one of the other clubs who isn’t getting a game.
There are plenty of options. |
If they take his salary, then tick, get it done. |
But there isn't a club in the league dumb or desperate enough to take on his contract.
Even North wouldn't touch him. |
I agree there aren’t many clubs that would be interested in taking on Grundy with his current contract, but I suspect that all of Adelaide, Port Adelaide and even West Coast Eagles would be very keen to trade if there was a chance that Collingwood would let Grundy go. |
But we can't trade him without someone taking on his current contract, or Collingwood paying him a lot of money to play for someone else... |

Mostly to Treloar - which is one of the reasons why we now pay Footscray for the privilege of not having to watch Treloar in a black and white jumper. |
