Many of the commentators talking about the stats differential, Mcrae making comment on that its not sustainable.
The other side of that coin is watch out if we do start to win contested possessions ....
our backline is set!
just got to get those centre clearances in hand or stop the ease in which the opposition takes it out of the centre, part way of doing this, Pivotal is the need for De Goey to step up, then Pendles staying in there, Adams will help, continue Crisp, Maynard, Elliott ands J Daicos going through.
Continue the effort to ensure we dont turn it over with long kicks into fwd line and honour leads as bloody Stewart will pick everything off!!
Watch out if we get our game going!!!!!! |

There's no stats for guts, self-belief, determination and team spirit.
If there were, ours would be off the charts. These, more than any other factors, are what wins finals footy. |

Our inability to win clearances isn’t likely to change this year but as Buckley succinctly described, Collingwood is the best in the business at securing the ball back whenever the opposition wins the clearance.
It’s exactly what Richmond did during their three flags but back then they also had the advantage of starting the extra in defence ( as did their opposition )
The manic pressure has also worked well for us but what’s changed in recent weeks is that our inside 50s are down, so it’s only our ridiculous efficiency that’s got us over the line. I don’t think we’re playing that well at the moment and the issue now seems to be that we are getting out pressured between the arcs and therefore not generating enough opportunities into our own forward fifty. Accurate kicks like Elliot, Ginnivan Jaicos and Johnson have kept us in the game but we need to find a way to not get held up in the middle of the ground when we’re rebounding from defence. That’s when we play our best footy and post enough inside 50s to score 80+ points every game. Being cleaner with the footy would be a good start. I also think being rank under dogs against the Cats will really help us. No guts, no glory. You won’t beat this mob playing safe footy. |
