Maynard's efforts continue to be heroic.

He made a Statement in the first 30 seconds, with a spirited tackle on Langdon. It was seconded by his Captain and carried by the Vice Captain.

In the last quarter, when the game was up-for-grabs (again)
Maynard came from the clouds with a Classic Shirtfront:
intentional; major impact; and brutally honest.

Just what the fans loved, admired and wanted.

Yes, Maynard was heroic all day, and kicked a spearing pass to Pendles.
Yes, only Pendles (and Buckley) can kick a ball with speed to the place where a team-mate should be.
Yes, Ginnivan cleared a self-less path for Billy, who humbly put it through.

But when everyone was celebrating, with 1.42 to go,
it was the 19 year old Ginnivan who pointed the way to a half-concussed Checkers:
"Backline (Remember?)"

These, and every other effort by The Pies were heroic.
Again.

I noticed Ginni doing this. Amazing maturity from the kid when he could have been doing cartwheels. Draft steal.

...the Nick Daicos punch towards the boundary from which Hoskin-Elliott swooped and kicked forward; then the desperate smother from Lipinski in the dying seconds...GOLD

Great to see our youngest kids. Ginni and Nick Daicos so invested in team tactics in only their first full season.
