That draft year [2013] for us was a nightmare
Firstly I know our first choice at #6 was going to be The Bont and until the day prior we believed we had him when the Bulldogs had a last minute change of heart.

Was wishful thinking hoping Bont would still be there at #6, but Welfare nabbed him first.
Still should have taken Aish before the other two, as we had to then poach him from Bears two years later, with more trade pain and bleeding from our arse.

Quite a comprehensive article about possible options...

Five potential replacements Collingwood could consider to replace Nathan Murphy

1. Jacob Blight
2. Cooper Trembath
3. Ben Hopkins
4. Experience at the MSD
5. Plan for trade period or free agency

We don't need to recruit a replacement for Murphy imo. Remember we've got Dean in reserve. Also, I expect that TJ will play a few senior games next year, after they fatten him up somewhat over the summer. He'll be a ripper of a defender for us for the next decade.

Collingwood VFL forward and Mid-Season Draft prospect Jack Hutchinson has gained further praise ahead of a potential promotion to the AFL, with coach Josh Fraser stating that the key forward has "AFL attributes"

It is no doubt completely bizarre but hey whatever, any world where we could convince Jack Riewoldt to play half a season, with a tilt at a fourth premiership?

^that's a hard pass. We need 3 goal a game pre 2019 Premiership Jack, not a busted up on field personality. The Carlton Draft is more his go in 2024 and beyond.

On Jack Hutchinson, he took another screamer, albeit not as good in R1 against the Zebras. It was on the other side of the ground and the commentators missed the call.
Hasn't delivered game presence to date so he'll remain a watch and see.

I'm more interested to see how 2023 draft pick #30 Archer Reid goes in the WAFL for WCE this year. He's out of contact in 2024. 203cm 100kg forward prospect. I'd certainly be asking the question of his manager might he like a return to Victoria.
I'd love to see what Dekka had written in his little black draft book on him. His brother Zach was pick #10 for Essendon the year prior.

We also have Eyre who should be available in a month or so.

For the time being, Frampton has essentially taken Murphy's spot in the side.

Lets just find someone 197cm or taller who can take contested marks for fun and teach them how to kick for goal.

And just as well; I couldn't begin to imagine the fallout from a third successive GF loss.

Interesting to see who we just missed ahead of our first pick at #30:

2 28 Patrick Lipinski Western Bulldogs Northern Knights TAC Cup Traded from Gold Coast; received from Richmond
2 29 Shai Bolton Richmond South Fremantle WAFL Free agency compensation pick (Vickery)
2 30 Sam McLarty Collingwood Oakleigh Chargers TAC Cup

and who we missed out on after pissing this pick against the wall:

3 43 Esava Ratugolea Geelong Murray Bushrangers TAC Cup Traded from Brisbane Lions

3 48 Darcy Cameron Sydney Claremont WAFL Traded from Port Adelaide
3 49 Lewis Young Western Bulldogs Sturt SANFL Traded from St Kilda
3 50 Kayle Kirby Collingwood Bendigo Pioneers TAC Cup Traded from Melbourne; received from Greater Western Sydney; received from Brisbane Lions; received from North Melbourne
3 51 Elliott Himmelberg Adelaide Redland NEAFL
3 52 Willie Rioli West Coast Glenelg SANFL Traded from Hawthorn
3 53 Jack Graham Richmond North Adelaide SANFL Traded from Geelong

*4 57 Josh Daicos Collingwood Oakleigh Chargers TAC Cup Father–son rule selection (son of Peter Daicos); traded from Gold Coast

oh, and these two SPUDS who Hine didn't rate:

5 73 Nick Larkey North Melbourne Oakleigh Chargers TAC Cup
5 76 Mitchell Lewis Hawthorn Calder Cannons TAC Cup

Totally agree.
Club keeps telling us he’s a long term big bodied mid, so why not give him 50 gams off HB?

He is open to a fresh start.

But as other ‘Nicksters’ have posted, we will need to give someone up…

Max Holmes is off the table. Just re-signed a big deal with the Cats.

If Max Holmes has resigned with Geelong, does that mean Bailey Smithis not going to the Cats?

Mitch Lewis would be a great KPF but he also spends a lot of time injured in rehab
