Great to see Jordy polling so well on his first game back after the events over the summer. |

Yes, I was thinking the same thing about Adams.
Of course, with Adams, it's part of a larger apparent no-go-zone for many Collingwood supporters. Collingwood beat St Kilda mostly because we dominated the centre, 18 clearances to 9 (in a dramatic fashion that had not happened for a number of years - to the contrary, we were typically killed around the packs by the good teams, even when we were last playing finals, despite getting more of the first chances at the ball from our rucks in virtually every game) and scored directly and heavily on the back of that dominance. Adams had 8 of those 18 clearances. The next 8 were split between De Goey and Grundy and the last 2 were split betwen Lipinski and Sidebottom.
Without that centre dominance, we would not have won that game because that was our major positive path of scoring differential over St Kilda. But the story that Collingwood won almost exclusively, in that game, because of its advantage at the centre stoppages doesn't fit with a worldview in which our best and consistently most influential player of the last decade is money-hungry, unco-ordinated, disinterested and useless. It wasn't so much that Adams' fine game was ignored as that acknowledging Adams' role in the victory entails accepting that our ruckman wasn't "pantsed" by a bloke earning half his salary. Some people just can't allow that narrative to be undermined, regardless of how obviously wrong it is on the evidence of any particular game. Supporters' disregard for Adams' game in round 1 was, I think, collateral damage from that main driver. |

Well it's a damming statistic for Adelaide. The Adelaide coach didn't give a single Adelaide player a vote. |
