England 0-25 with 9.5 overs left.

Looks like it's now 14 overs per side.

"Australia have been dealt another devastating injury blow, with fast bowler Tayla Vlaeminck to miss the remainder of the Ashes and the ODI World Cup in New Zealand with a stress fracture in her right foot.

Vlaeminck missed Saturday's second T20I in Adelaide and was spotted wearing a 'moon boot', now scans have confirmed Australia's worst fears – the same navicular injury that ruled the Victorian out of the 2022 T20 World Cup and the 10 months that followed."

Hopefully they’ll get some play in during the Test.

"Meg Lanning is set to break new ground, becoming just the third woman to captain her country in 150 matches across all formats when she leads Australia out in the Ashes Test at Manuka Oval.

On Thursday morning, she will join an exclusive club, with England great Charlotte Edwards (220) and India's current ODI captain Mithali Raj (183 matches) the only players to have skippered their nations on more occasions.

Since taking over the top job from Jodie Fields in 2014 aged 21 – becoming the youngest player to captain Australia in the process – Lanning has led her country to three T20 World Cup wins and two away Ashes series victories."

Looking clear around Canberra, on BoM radar, as I type.

However, there's quite a threatening system, heading east. It's now over the Adelaide area. Could be some lost time.

Aussies sent in.

Were 2/4 and 3/42 before Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes fought back with a century partnership.

Oz: 3/186. Lanning 81*, Haynes 73*.

Partnership 143.

Both fell short of reaching triple numbers.

Lanning 93, Haynes 86.

At stumps, 7/327. Gardner scored 56 and McGrath, 52.

Brunt and Sciver have 3 wickets each.

"Meg Lanning and Rachael Haynes fell shy of breakthrough centuries after rescuing Australia from a perilous position, before a flourish from Ashleigh Gardner and Tahlia McGrath put the hosts in charge at 7-327 at stumps on day one of the Ashes Test.

After Alyssa Healy, Beth Mooney and, shockingly, Ellyse Perry all fell in the first 70 minutes to leave the hosts 3-43, Lanning and Haynes' 169-run stand – Australia's biggest Test partnership in a decade – wrested back the momentum, despite both being denied maiden Test tons as they were dismissed for 93 and 86 respectively.

Gardner's 56 from just 74 deliveries then kept the pressure on England through the extended final session, and McGrath brought up a half-century of her own – and was dismissed for 52 five balls later – in the final over of the day."
