Industry leaders are now pushing Dan Andrews to make public servants work in the office full time. Seems they are not satisfied with 3 out of 5 days.

Now that most people have experienced WFH, many do not want to go back into the office full time.

I can understand employers wanting collaboration b/w staff and some employees have abused the WFH model but to me the hybrid model is the way forward.

Why waste time and money travelling into the city each day? Especially if you live outer suburbs.

I have an ex-work colleague who works full time & WFH but has no intention of returning to the office unless forced to. She is happy to do her work without having to, as she puts it "deal with the morons in the office face to face". She is also able to avoid the office politics.

We go to 3/5 this week so it'll be interesting to see if more people start showing up. It's dead quiet a lot of days, my job and team are all in the office every day as we need to be, but a lot of other departments are rarely seen.

Whilst there are some who very much prefer the WFH model, the reality is they need to be in the office as people often drop in to see them and they're never there.

Too many people coming up with crap excuses to not come into the office.

The world will be back to 5 days a week at work by Christmas this year

Your ex-work colleague is exactly the reason why work culture is going to the shitter.

No it won't the hybrid model is here to stay. Employers who try to force people into a central office 5 days per week will shed staff to those who offer flexibility.

I'll never go back to 5 days in the office and I'll never work in the CBD again.

no it wont. Once the balance of power shifts back to the employer, we'll be 5 days a week, 9-5

What makes you so sure?

I mean, you're completely wrong but I'd like to understand why you think that.

So is Whatisname Elon Musk in disguise?

Quote:
Elon Musk’s demand that Tesla staff stop “phoning it in” and get back to the office has thrust the world’s richest person into the noisy debate over the future of work, and shows again that some CEOs remain tone-deaf to employees’ growing demands for flexibility.

“Everyone at Tesla is required to spend a minimum of 40 hours in the office per week,” Musk wrote in a message addressed to employees at the electric-car maker. That “must be where your actual colleagues are located, not some remote pseudo office. If you don’t show up, we will assume you have resigned. The more senior you are, the more visible must be your presence.”

This from a bloke who has the Chinese workers building his cars working 12 hour shifts and spending their off time sleeping in the factory so they can keep production going during Covid restrictions.

Yeah right

Musk is brazen enough to call out what everyone else is too afraid or too woke to call out.

Fine with me. My contract has 2 days per week at home, minimum. In 2 years time I plan to be retired.
