I do not know if he is any good as a player. What do we think? Good or bad decision?

I know nothing about him, but Collingwood clearly does not rate him.

Maybe we think he'll be available any time since we think no one else will pick him - but if we rated him highly, surely we would just do the necessary

I was wondering why Hine was interviewed for 30 mins with Cal Twomey and Dibs name wasn’t mentioned at all.
I felt his height ( or lack of it ) was always going to tell against him. You need to be very special if you want to be selected at only 174cm.

I feel sorry for the Vic kids in this years draft. Most will have been lucky to play seven / eight under age games in the last two years.
There’s very little exposed form, so some clubs will land a smoky and others will get it horribly wrong.

My guess is he doesn't offer anything that our existing small forward list offer to warrant priority selection.

Doesn't mean we don't rate him, we could be thinking he'll slide through the draft and we can rookie list him.

Makes it less likely another team will have an early crack at him

Know nothing about him apart from his height and position.
174cm tall is not the type of player we need.
We already have McCreery, Ginnivan, Noble, Chugg, C Brown who are all undersized.

Agree.

I think we’re reading to much into it if we start assuming it’s a strategy.
I’d suggest it’s more likely we simply have more important needs to fill.
I see the club as being transparent and inviting other clubs to speak to kid and allowing Dib to consider his options.
We may yet take him with our very last pick but that would depend how their earlier selections have unfolded on the night.

I believe if you nominate a player and they don't get selected by another team, then you must / automatically get the player with your last available pick in the draft. It would a) prevent us picking Dib in the rookie draft or b) selecting a better available option should it arise, come our final picks. I think the decision will be made at the time on the night based on best available and team needs. Or we see him as a rookie pick only.
