Say Grundy had The Bont, Macrae, Petracca, Oliver to tap to. What could they possibly do when Grundy hits out straight to the oppo? Grundy does this often. The best they could do is hope they are close enough to the oppo to tackle him.
Blaming Grundy's teammates is a weak excuse. |

Darcy has 15 hitouts to quarter time against Carlton. His team has not won a centre clearance. |

So what do you conclude from that?
Probably, it shows again why our ex-coach reckons hit outs are "irrelevant". Most ruckmen are not skilled enough for their hit outs to matter. That's why it's safest for them to grab the ball instead of tapping and kick it themselves if they can. |

We might have been able to get some midfield talent in if we had cap space, not laying that solely at the feet of Grundy's contract, but it clearly doesn't help _________________ "You hate a mean man, a grasping man, a man who wants everything and gives nothing. So you love to point out where ruckmen dominate and teams lose, yet still maintain that it's worth having a ruckman as your highest paid player? Rightio then...
Another Grundy game, another Collingwood loss, it's hard to argue with the facts. |

I have no interest in salaries. I just can't abide people bagging our couple of competent footballers. Grundy was one of our best, again. |

In that case I have a job opportunity for you! |

I thought Ryder spanked him.
And I hope everyone noticed within 30 seconds of the 2nd half, Grundy had another hit out oppo goal involvement. He whacked the hit out to a St K player who kicked it to Membrey, who goaled. |

You don't pay any attention to his good work, though. Opposition ruckmen hit the ball straight to our mids, too. Ryder did so several times today. Ours are, Pendlebury aside, incapable of handling the ball competently, so it doesn't matter. |

If only Grundy's manager had the same non-interest!
His salary could cost the Pies a flag. Of course, if the Pies are a basket case for the next 6 years, it sort of "won't matter". But if the Pies challenge for a flag, it's like the whole COLA thing again. |

Actually, that opening bounce of the third quarter is a fine example. Ryder hit it straight to Adams. It splashed all over him and he pushed it back towards the St Kilda goal. Grundy tried to clean up after him, to no avail. The problem with the stoppage to which you refer is that Adams, standing a foot away from Crouch, was unable to lay a tackle. Our midfield is atrocious. Blaming the rucking for it is just silly. |

I only watched the last half.
I thought Ryder thrashed him in the second half.
I believe Grundy is a professional football player but I don't think he has a great love for the club or the game and I reckon it shows in lots of little ways |

Let's trade him. It'll be fun watching Cox ruck. |

Again: when Grundy whacks the hit out straight to the oppo, what is our midfield supposed to do? They can only hope they're close enough to tackle. (Sometimes Grundy whacks it to the oppo at his feet. Then he is the one close enough to tackle. Then we can escape with another ball up.) |
