The hard-won lead in the head to head record - 128 wins, 4 draws and 127 losses - is on the line. We lost that lead for almost 40 years - from the end of 1981 until round 2 this year. We trailed by as many as 14 losses in April 2002, so it's been a long hard road to get our noses back in front. |

Win this and we climb them on the ladder, too.

50/50 on this one. Play like we did in the last quater against the tigers... I yep we win by four or five goals.
Turn in another one quater effort. Blues win and win easy.
I think the narrative that was lost by the media in the Geelong vs Carlton game was this... in the 3rd term Carlton were 2.13 to 6.7. If Carlton had taken it chances in front of goal Carlton are on front going into the final quarter...and the game is alive.
McKay worries me...if Moore was playing him we might be able to shut him down... with the quality of Walsh in the middle I fear if the Blues cut loose they will be too good.
Four quater effort: Pies by 24 points.
Anything less: Blues by 20 points. _________________ "To know nothing of events before your birth, is to forever remain a child" - Cicero (Roman Lawyer/Senator) 46 BCE. |

One forced change with Kelly out, while Poulter is available again this week.
Ginnivan is also a decent chance to debut.
Cripps is struggling and Jones, who has been very good for them and missed last week, needs to get through a fitness test.
Neither team can string four qtrs of decent footy together, so for me it’s all about maximising your momentum shift on the scoreboard. Kicking accurately on the day would would go a long way to getting the job done. |

With Kelly the only forced change, it's hard to justify making other changes to a team which played so well last week. I reckon Ruscoe did enough to come in as Kelly's replacement.
I'd love to see Poulter and Sier come in to the team, but the obvious one's to exit, in Brown and Thomas, each had good games and will likely hold their spots. The quietest player was Henry (again), but he needs a few successive games or risk getting his confidence smashed to pieces. Bianco was quiet, so maybe he's a chance at being 'managed' for a week or two?
Out: Kelly (inj)
In: Ruscoe
Inj sub: Sier

I'd freshen up Noble, but I said that 3 weeks ago.
Try Thomas as the injury sub with the view to get him on at half time as he has become a 2nd half specialist?
Love to see Poulter and Sier in.
Ginnivan looked sharper and more confident than ever (highlights).
I think we will win and win well. |

It's nice to have a selection problem, rather than being forced to make changes.
I don't trust Sier and in a must win game, i'd rather go with players that don't shit the bed in the seniors. _________________ Fighting against the objectification of woman. |

Keep Ruscoe in the side. Liked what I saw in limited game time.
If Poulter is to come straight back in, then perhaps Bianco is due for a rest? Henry showed small signs, but overall had a quiet game. I'm undecided weather to keep him in or not?
Jack Ginnivan will have to be considered after his recent VFL form, same height as Didak that boy.
Sier has also been in good form in the VFL. Cox was listed in the bests with 2 goals, but I dont think we'll bring him back in. Lynch was also listed in the bests, but I dont think we'll play Grundy/Cameron/Lynch together. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

OK, im going to be a tad left field, and suggest, that ONE good thing if we did happen to drop this, is that the Bluesbellies will then NOT sack their Coach Teague, how can they ? giving us a clear run at Clarkson ? Hmm.. bit tempting, hey, but then again it is Caaaaarlton, the arch enemy, and we utterly loathe them, as they do us. Be a close game though, Blues been in some good form, but Pies to take the chocolates in a close one. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Nothing good ever came from losing to Carlton. And nobody gives a rat's about whether they do or don't sack their coach. Two games a season, Carlton at home and Carlton away. Just win them. |

Im no saying i want to lose too them, im just saying, if we did, IF we did, after doing our best, there is a silver lining in it for us, at the end of the day. And that is Clarkson, maybe. Naturally id love to beat the bastards, not just on wins, in GFs, they have beaten us in 6 GFs, we have won a lousy 1 from them, way back in 1910, before WW1 even. 1970 and 79 still rankles me, and 81 too. _________________ Poverty exists not because we cannot feed the poor, but because we cannot satisfy the rich.

Last time we played them, Degoey nearly finished Plowmans career before it ever got started.
I’d like a balance in the midfield that allows DeGoey to spend more time forward than usual and surely they must find a way to fit Ginnivan in the side.
Bianco needs a rest, just as Poulter needed a spell away from the grind.
I’d prefer Poulter to come back through the VFL only because MacRae and Sier performed well last week in the VFL.
Henry showed glimpses and it will be easier against the Blues backline than it was against the Tigers.
And F W I W - Thomas has kicked five in the last three games and has averaged 17 touches as a permanent half forward. We need to move on from omitting him from the team. If it hadn’t happened by now, it won’t be happening after his last three weeks.
Out Kelly / Bianco
In Ginnivan / MacRae or Sier |
