Let's be very clear here on one thing: the risk at our club is always and ever over-rating our own and not having the kahunas to get rid of (ma)lingering former club people.

"When seeking serious cultural change recruit from the in-group", said no one with an ounce of organisational knowledge, ever.

Even knowing Licca is still there bothers me and I loved the bloke. These people are part of the furniture; they don't have a distinct perspective anymore that offers a competitive advantage, regardless of their best intentions. They have organisational views geared to carefully seek balance among social and professional debts to existing parties and ideas.

Those debts accumulate such that even when people leave and return, the old stance is very quickly assumed.

This is very basic human sociology and psychology, so let's not fantasise we're immune to it. Far from it; we're the bloody quarantine hotel of the condition.

Kingsley is my preferred candidate out of the assistant coaches who haven't coached an AFL club at senior level.

If we don't get Clarkson, I would be keen on him. Wonder if the club will reach the same conclusion?

............b&f winner, premiership player and solidly groomed for the roll. If we go an untried coach I’d love to see him there.

I have a personal interest in it too....but enough said.

Yes ty for the effort.. gives us a start.

It's an interesting breakdown, and as the story of the 3 Bears, we can work out who balances perfectly between the Fossils and the Newbies.

The 'just right': Kingsley, Yze And and the slightly cooler Mitchell

If we leave a piece of lead next to Gold overnight has it turned to Gold? : Leppitsch

If we leave an ordinary meal on fire long enough, will it end up Michelin 5 star ?: Burns, Voss, Harvey

And then there's Clarkson

And the rest.

lol. I have no idea. But If not Clarkson, I don't put any weight on the next in line theory.

Lets get MM back. He'll be great at press conferences, can build a club up from the ground and doesn't give a flying fig what anyone else thinks. Plus he's older, so he can "retire" after a little while if it doesn't work out.

If we're going for a new coach, why not Scotty Burns. He's as well credentialed as the others, a Pies man (which is not a down side) and can join with GW and hopefully Craig Kelly in some role to rebuild the team with a Collingwood heart and soul attitude. Now we just need to get Gavin Brown back...

My Dad seems to think we should hire Bucks and then sack him every week.

Your Dad is a brilliant man. That would make all supporters happy.

especially those supporters who want to see every man and his dog sacked.

That would wipe out 90% of weekly BS posts

Top work Jezza.

From those you listed, I am excited about;

Sam Mitchell. Last time we took a non-Collingwood person from the Hawks, well that turned out ok. Young and respected. Is not a soft coach and some of the players would get a reality check.

Blake Caracella. Success followed him as a player and as an assistant coach. If he's ready to take it on, he's a great choice.

Mark Williams. Something just feels right about it. But at 62, I wonder how much desire he has to see a rebuild through. Perhaps an assistant role?

I'm also excited to see who the assistant jobs will go to.
