Why do we like Dale Tapping so much?

Previous affiliation to the club as VFL coach for several years.

Assistant coach at the Lions, where they've been strong for a few years.

Very well liked at the club.

Could not help but be bit taken aback with Riewoldts amart arse reply to the news bout McRae. Clearly he is not over 2010 and Heath Shaw. Both Jonno Brown and G Lyon said it was a great move by the Magpies, brilliant appointment, Nick half heartedly agreed, then had to bring up Kingsley, who just missed out, saying, "Oh well they passed over him, but their loss, is some other teams gain ". I just thought it was a pretty churlish and uncalled for remark, no call for it, jealousy is a curse, hey Roo ?

No issue for mine.

Kingsley was an assistant at St Kilda when Riewoldt was still playing. Rated him very highly and regarded him as the best assistant he's worked with in his time in footy.

Both McRae and Kingsley were good candidates. I'm glad we've decided to appoint one of them.

OK, was just the sneering way he said it, last week he had a big poke at us, and johnno Brown laughed and said, " Jeez Nick u never got over that GF incident with Heath Shaw did yer ?" LMFAO, good on Browny. Razz

Appointment will be announced tomorrow.

Quote:
Craig McRae is almost certain to be unveiled as Collingwood’s senior coach on Wednesday as he looks to help reshape the Magpies’ destiny after one of the most difficult years in the club’s history.

While other Magpie coaching appointments over the years have often been big production affairs, McRae’s elevation to the role will come via a low-key press conference conducted on Zoom.

The event will be in keeping with the no-fuss, no-nonsense approach that helped the three-time premiership Lion win the role.

The Magpies embarked on one of the most thorough processes in the club’s history to find Nathan Buckley’s replacement, with board member and coaching subcommittee member Paul Licuria insisting it was about finding the right coach, not the one with the highest profile.

McRae was the clear choice of the five-man panel, with the highly-respected, but low-profile, 47-year-old locking in to what is believed to be a three-year deal.

It is understood a number of new assistant coaches and other football-related appointments will come in the next few weeks, following on from Collingwood’s commitment to put an experienced, off-field support team around McRae.

McRae had been the favourite for the Magpies’ coaching job in recent weeks, but his appointment had to be ratified by the Magpies’ board.

Yes mate.
Apparently Harvey just got sacked.
Leppa and Tapping to follow once the Lions finals campaign has run its course.
Pies on the comeback 💪

Also former Sandy Dragons coach. He’s an excellent communicator around young players.

No chance of Dr O’Donnell being footy’s first President-coach?

Harvey and Sanderson to depart.

Leppitsch and Tapping would be good additions. Bolton's name has also been mentioned.

I also wouldn't mind getting one of Kingsley or Graham over to the club as well.

That's great. Hopefully the rumours of him returning are true.

I’m just happy that Harvey and Sanderson have been removed.

Looking forward to the new coaching panel and a new direction.

All the comments here are positive on the applicants Graham ,Kingsley & McRae which tells me that our panel has gone to extreme and exhausting
effort to sift thru what was available
All three would have been good I think but only one got the job

Graham Wright at our club is every day in every way proving to be the glue that will bind us together

Sounds like a complete clean out of the coaching staff apart from Selwood and Skipworth. Can’t say I’m surprised by any of this. There’s a sense that Harvey and Sanderson are victims of the disastrous trade period last year. McRae will now have the freedom to have his own support group next year at the club. He’ll be starting from scratch with a predominately younger team. Should be interesting times to be a Collingwood supporter.

Its looking better and better as we go along, keep the faith and be patient.

Try supporting West Tigers in the NRL, now theres a club in the real doldrums.
