Is there an option to trade Aish for C. Brown? No

Amazing how Callum could suddenly kick a 45m goal today, after everyone (fairly enough) trashing him for not being able to kick from 30m

did you see how many times he tried to give it off? And by the way, he started his run inside 50. That was 35 metres out and no further. and he barely covered the distance. and you also were worried about whether he could cover the journey.

I think we cleared room for kids like Callum Brown by getting rid of Aish. we are geniuses in reverse.

If Aish were still at Collingwood, we would be trying desperately to lose him. The only thing surprising to me about Aish is that, after all his vanilla form at Brisbane, we still traded for him. He is a classic ordinary player - no particular skills, no particular effort and no particular pace. The only thing you can build around players like that is mediocrity.

Greenwood is not a list clogger
Also list clogger is a very insulting term especially from posters who have never played at that level
We do need some depth or else half the side would have played less than 20 games

Some players will retire or seek a trade lets see who is left and what weaknesses are exposed.
Lynch was good last week and many complained he was dropped hardly the description of a clogger

Most clubs aim to have a cheap, capable backup ruckman running around in the seconds who can step up into the seniors and do a decent job when their number 1 ruckman is out injured or needs a rest.
Lynch proved last week that he can fill that role. And after only 3 games at the level.
I would be amazed if he wasn't offered another contract.

Keep Lynch for now especially if we get rid of Cox.

Aish is a beautiful kick. The problem is for a player of his size who is essentially an outside player, he can only play two positions, wing or half back flank. These sorts of AFL players were phased out about 10 years ago. If you drafted one off the rookie list you’d be pleased with the result because they have a value. The mystery to me however is why we ever traded high draft picks for him when the bleeding obvious is we’re desperate for a tall forward.

Greenwood is a great clubman and one of a few we have at the club who give 100%. However let’s face reality. Is he going to deliver us a premiership? If the answer is no then something has to give. Ruthlessness drives you to a premiership. Ask Hawthorn and Richmond.

The interesting question would be the contract value that "said" list cloggers would save when we off-load them given minimum Primary list wage is approx $310,000 now.

* Cox: mooted $650,000
* Greenwood: $350,000 perhaps
* Mayne: $400,000 approx
* Tohill: $100,000
* Thomas: $350,000
* Sier: $350,000
* Madgen: $250,000

So approximately $2,500,000 off the cap notwithstanding the enactment of renewed or extended contracts going into 2022. If we still have a salary cap hangover that precludes us securing reasonably priced free agents or trades, the Board should gracefully hand over the keys to Jeff Browne pronto.

Okay - let's go over this again, as it is a sad exercise in Hine's ineptitude, and a poor reflection on many other clubs as well:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2013_AFL_draft

The 2013 ND

Round Pick Player Drafted to Recruited from League Notes
1 1 Tom Boyd Greater Western Sydney Eastern Ranges TAC Cup
1 2 Josh Kelly Greater Western Sydney Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup Traded from Melbourne
1 3 Jack Billings St Kilda Oakleigh Chargers TAC Cup
1 4 Marcus Bontempelli Western Bulldogs Northern Knights TAC Cup
1 5 Kade Kolodjashnij Gold Coast Launceston TSL
1 6 Matthew Scharenberg Collingwood Glenelg SANFL Traded from West Coast
1 7 James Aish Brisbane Lions Norwood SANFL
1 8 Luke McDonald North Melbourne Werribee VFL Father–son selection – son of Donald McDonald
1 9 Christian Salem Melbourne Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup Mid first round compensation pick from 2010 traded from Greater Western Sydney
1 10 Nathan Freeman Collingwood Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup
1 11 Dom Sheed West Coast Subiaco WAFL Traded from Collingwood; free agency compensation pick (Thomas)
1 12 Ben Lennon Richmond Northern Knights TAC Cup
1 13 Patrick Cripps Carlton East Fremantle WAFL

Hine could have taken any one of Aish, Salem, Sheed or Cripps..
But no; it was Scharenberg and Freeman for us.
I did like Scharenberg as a player, but he should have been another teams injury problem.
Bye bye 2018 flag.
And we had to bleed picks a couple of seasons later to poach Aish, and fix Hine's shit.
We would secure Langdon at pick 65, which was some justice, is what was ultimately a premiership costing bust of a draft.

And St.Kilda took Billings over Bont. Seriously...
No Bont at Dogs, then GWS waltz to 2016 flag in a canter.

And Richmond also passed over Cripps; just as well, or the 2017-2020 four-peat would have been a foregone conclusion.

2014ND also costly in latter stage; Goodyear over Ed Langdon and Oscar McDonald :

3 48 Matthew Goodyear Collingwood Calder Cannons TAC Cup
3 49 Teia Miles Hawthorn Geelong Falcons TAC Cup Traded from Gold Coast; received from West Coast via a trade in 2013; traded by Collingwood in 2010; Compensation pick from 2010 (Fraser)
3 50 Marc Pittonet Hawthorn Oakleigh Chargers TAC Cup Traded by Adelaide
3 51 Jackson Nelson West Coast Geelong Falcons TAC Cup
3 52 Nathan Drummond Richmond Murray Bushrangers TAC Cup
3 53 Oscar McDonald Melbourne North Ballarat Rebels TAC Cup Traded from Greater Western Sydney; received from Essendon
3 54 Ed Langdon Fremantle Sandringham Dragons TAC Cup
3 55 Dean Gore Geelong Sturt SANFL
3 56 Dougal Howard Port Adelaide Murray Bushrangers TAC Cup

Don't tell me Langdon wouldn't have asked Hine and his co-dipshits to have a serious look at his brother prior to this draft?

And this is why we are where we are; end of story.

1 in 50 is a fair return for a spud I suppose.

not sure about Tom Wilson. Been at the club for a couple years, and in his couple games thisz year has not managed a meaningful stat. End the experiment and get another 20 year ols in there...
