After the game against the blues, its clear that our midfield is the main thing that needs, fixing, when you can't win a clearances or deliver the ball inside 50, Mckay only came into the game when Blues won the clearances...

A Walsh type midfield player and a Mckay type Fwd.... gee i hate Carlton

Agree.

Our midfield depth is lacking. That along with a key forward needs major addressing over the next few years.

Our defence is in pretty good shape at the moment.

^ Noble, Madgen and Mayne. How did we ever make the mistake of going with a half-back line of Shaw, Reid and H?

Yeah you’re right.

Noble Mayne and Madgen is definitely our first choice.

Howe Moore Maynard…. That’s more a reserves kind of thing!

Anyway, back to a possible list management strategy in the upcoming off season.
We have this unique list profile that will have us hit the 2022 season with a new coach and around half of the list to have played less than 20 games. Some will come on leaps and bounds, while others will flatten out for whatever reasons.
The first thing I would be looking at is to not get caught up trading in anyone who is only holding up the development of one of our more promising types. ...

Thanks for this analysis, P2016. Really enlightening... I learned alot from it. I was especially interested in your points about why our ball movement is so often forced to be slow, due to the fact that our forward line has lost all its structure, due to forwards getting sucked up the ground, presumably to help out getting the ball forward...

I have no idea why we didn't grab Lobb when he was first available at GWS. Instead we grab Aish from Brisbane at a time he struggled to play his best football there. Those picks for Aish then robbed us of any counter offer we could have made for Beams, not that we should have gone anywhere near Beams because that robbed us of any chase of getting Steve May. Our trading has been a complete utter disaster in which you don't know who out of Buckley, Ned Guy and Geoff Walsh are to blame.

The problem at the time as I recall was Lobb was determined to go home to W.A.

I am not sure he is what we need.

Ex-Baskeballer,
Ruckman played as a forward.
Quite useless,
Injury prone.
Will be 29 next year

Ticks all the boxes, lets get him.

Don't forget he will only cost about 700k a year!!! And he only wants a five year contract.

Collingwood board: "he is perfect.. we'll take two!! Also tell him if he retires early or wants to be traded we will pay him out in full"

All jokes aside he really isn't at all what we need. He needs to be in a team with alot of young talent pushing for a premiership. He would be of huge help to a Gold Coast team.

If Collingwood isn't putting all thier time and effort into our key forward and deffence stocks we have huge problems.

Personnel isn't strong, but as a defensive unit we've held up reasonably well this year.

We're 8th in points against.

You wonder where it's all tied up, don't you?

Reckon there will be a lot of delisted players to choose from by October.
Most of them will play anywhere for base wage in 2022, as their other career options are probably non existent in this covid environment.

If we can grab three or four strong bodies for next to nothing; do it!

Jaidyn privately admits he stuffed up in the hub and understood he had stuffed too many times. That aside, so did Dane Swan and he came good
