A good article in the AGE today about goalkicking accuracy:

https://www.theage.com.au/sport/afl/let-s-get-this-straight-the-tough-art-of-kicking-for-goal-20210611-p5807q.html

I was impressed at Jamie Elliots six goal haul in Adelaide, we need to get multiple sharpshooters roaming the forward half.

These stats: https://forever.collingwoodfc.com.au/the-awards-leading-goalkicker/

How I miss Travis Cloke, Didak and the Roccas! I'd almost forgotten about Fasolo, he had absolute flashes of brilliance. I'm enjoying watching Mihocek, but would also like Mason Cox to hit double figures, if he returns. (I dont reckon he's been the same since his eye injury).

1 - Can we get improved accuracy from our current list?
2 - Do we look for multiple goalkickers, or go back to the full forward gameplan?

Goalkicking should simply be practiced more.

The answer is no. We had an accurate kick in Stephenson but we traded him to North Melbourne. We had another one in WHE but he's now playing on the wing. We had one in Josh Thomas but it's difficult to kick goals when you only have 5 kicks for the game. We had an accurate goal kicking mid in Adam Treloar - that's right. He now plays for the Western Bulldogs. Cox is an accurate kick from about 30 -40 meters out from goal. That's right. He now plays in the VFL. Pendlebury is an accurate kick on goals. The last game we played him off the half back line. I'm not sure who that leaves. Think it's Elliot or nobody.

And we have Sidey who selectors won’t play in the forward line; despite now struggling on ball at his age. He’s not only accurate but “knows where they are”. Big time.

Would debate that saying Treloar was an accurate kick would be akin to saying Ivan Milat was great for the tourist industry. All others agree on.

^We also persisted with WHE in the forward line for a long time and continue to persist with JT. Clearly Elliot can find it so who are we blaming?

So, if this time last week, if you were asked what were our chances of beating Dreamons without Elliott hitting the scoreboard, you'd have said...

Strange things happen in football. Who would have thought that a guy who struggles in the VFL could match it up against a champion in Gawn.

'Magic' Johnson will improve our forward line significantly. What we need is a really good high mark and that seems to be his forte. Hope to see him get a game soon.

Jake Riccardi come on down.

195cm, key forward, 21 years old, Victorian, and is not related to Peter Riccardi in any way.

If he wants to return to Vic, then I reckon he'll end up a Pie!

John “Nobody” Eales , (nobody’s perfect) was a very accurate kick , he was a perfect kick maybe as a 50 yo he could come into the side now and then for some set shots as the designated goal kicker.

Bring back the Place Kick, and the Jenkins Topliner footy boots.

or employ a proper goal kicking coach and/or psychologist.
