Rising Australian cycling star Jai Hindley could join Cadel Evans as the only Australian to have won the Tour de France.

In Hindley’s first appearance at the Tour, and after entering the major race as third favourite, he has taken the lead following victory in stage five – and looks to have a genuine shot at winning it all.

Unfortunately, only in yellow for one stage as the other big guns in Vingegaard and Pogacar (former winner) fought back on stage 7.

Vingegaard now has the yellow jersey.

Another 14 stages to go (final stage doesn't count as it is just a leasurely ride to Paris) so Hindley still has a chance.

Hindley still in 3rd spot overall after Stage 11.

Hasn't lost any more time but still 2 minutes 40 seconds behind Vingegaard who still leads the race.
Pogacar in 2nd, 17 seconds behind the leader.

After a brutal day on Stage 10 - hot weather and hilly terrain - Stage 11 was classed as a flat day. Caleb Ewan was tipped to do well on this stage but could only manage 15th.

Unfortunately Jai has lost time on the last two stages and is now in 5th place 6 minutes behind the leader.

Was involved in a major crash on stage 14 - 5 riders retired after stage 14 - which didn't help. Too far behind the leaders now and will take a big effort to make the podium.

Caleb Ewan has retired from the race.

Unless something major happens, it is a race in two between Vingegaard and Pogacar.

And not unexpectedly, a knobhead in the crowd caused a crash in last nights stage (stage 15). Taking a selfie on the side of the road and hit one of the riders. Fortunately, all the riders involved were able to continue the race.

Had to happen.

I've often marvelled at so few similar incidents, with the crowds allowed that close to the riders.
