Swans tried to trade him last year and couldnt get it done. As a free agent, is he someone that could come over without taking too much out of the cap?
Looking at his 2019 stats, you'd have to say yes. However, a back injury stuffed up his 2020 and he is so far having a quiet 2021.
185cm, 25 years old, South Australian, Inside mid (Swans playing him in a defensive role this year).

This year he cannot seem to get a game ahead of their recent recruits; I'd suggest the writing is on the wall this time, and he knows it.
He has a decent tank, and a good work ethic.
I'd grab him [cheap] if the opportunity permits. _________________ I sat next to Rudeboy and piedys for 10 years at Victoria Park, and survived. |

Nah, he’s a plodder with no discernible weapons i.e. speed, creativity, endurance, or toughness and is not going to win you games - list clogger. We need to be targeting elite players or at least those with potential to develop into elite.
That said, our obvious deficiency is a one grab gorilla at CHF with elite running/endurance to be able to lead up and also move their defender around ala Clokey. Elliott Himmelberg from Crows at 23 yrs, 200 cm and 96 kg would fit the bill nicely. Will develop further and has been touted as being as good as and better than big bro Harry at GWS. Adelaide currently have a glut of talls and several very similar players in his position so would be gettable I reckon….
Others we should’ve already been putting time into and put feelers out already are Ben King and Jack Lukosius from GC and possible McStay from Lions…these blokes although not ‘gorillas’ would definitely fill the gap. _________________ The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men... |

Good calls. Hewitt has a smell of the Chad Morrison's about it. Himmleberg would be great but Crows would want Cam donaldson, Micky Dimmish and Andy payne. _________________ I love the Pies, hate Carlscum |

I don’t see us getting involved in any top shelf trades this year, so you should probably start with looking at the strong clubs who have a surplus of riches.
Charlie Constable ? He’s an automatic upgrade on Sier.
Big body, good around the contest and can’t get a regular game in a very good midfield.
If you thought Sier would come good, you wouldn’t consider it but we can’t trust him and we could do with some ready to go size around the contest. |

^^^ I like this one. Constable could be a very good pick up (or someone like him). I desperately wanted us to go after Jack Steele when he went to St Kilda. He was doing what Tom Mitchell did for Sydney... Mitchell couldn't get a run with Sydney, went to Hawthorn and won a Brownlow. Steele couldn't get a run with GWS and goes to St Kilda to become AA.
Both were getting ridiculous numbers in the reserves comp and clearly ALF standard players.
You look at good teams that have a stacked position... there will undoubtedly be someone missing out as they can't break in. They've been biding time, learning from quality players and ready to play. Just wanting the opportunity. There are gems out there to be mined if you look properly. |

Cox is a likely player to leave us this year. Geelong have the biggest ruck hole at the moment. Is there anyone we can get off them that is around the same value as Cox, but could fill a need for us?
Josh Jenkins showed form in the VFL before its stoppage, and he cant break into the team. We need a player like him, the only thing is, he is already 32.
As said above, Charlie Constable could be a target, but he would be worth more than Cox. What else would we have to give up for him?
Esava Ratagolea is also out of contract, but also would be to valuable for a straight for straight swap.
We could take a player for Cox instead of Pick 108 or whatever, and they could end up being more valuable to our team then he is right now. _________________ "That was out-of-bounds" |

North and Essendon looking at offers in to getting McKay according to Ch7.
Looking at 800-1M a year.
Essendon will be super keen to get one back on Carlton, but it'll have to be via trade.
Too bad we cant get a FF. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

Some midfield possibilities who are on the periphery of team selection at their current clubs having difficulty breaking higher into the pecking order, have been unlucky with injuries, at or approaching uncontracted status and could be gettable with a reasonable trade. Most importantly have potential to excel and possibly be elite under the right conditions:
Tom Joyce - Lions. 181cm 85kg Midfielder. WA standout gun as underage player in TAC Cup. Out of contract at end of 2021. Will continue to find it difficult to break into well stocked midfield.
Jack Bytel - Saints. 189cm 84kg Inside Midfielder. TAC Cup proven ball winner, U16 Vic Metro MVP, AFL Academy selection. Had injuries which set him back - big bodied and can get his hands on the ball and uses it well with penetrating kick and silky skills.
Will Brodie - Suns. 190cm 89kg Inside Midfielder. Former top 10 draft pick doing okay but facing stiff opposition to win and maintain a spot in Suns midfield. Has talent to burn.
Xavier O’Halloran - GWS. 186cm 86kg Midfielder Forward. Hard running midfielder with mix of speed and athleticism with ability to play forward. Contested beast with strong hands overhead and lovely shot on goal (probably the hardest to dislodge and least gettable but worth a crack)
There’s probably others similar waiting to be uncovered who would be ready to go and definitely able to add value that wouldn’t cost the Earth and if we’re really lucky could get through RFA, player exchange and/or whatever draft picks we don’t need etc _________________ The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men... |

Gees, I love Sidey more than is probably natural for a heterosexual man to love another man, but if the Suns agreed to this deal id hope we’d sign seal and deliver on it before the ink was dry on the contracts.
I think they have enough experience on their list currently. If they didn’t get Moyle the other day we’d have something to offer re Cox, but that ship’s well and truly sailed…. _________________ The path of the righteous man is beset on all sides by the inequities of the selfish and the tyranny of evil men... |

Is there any way we can trade for Harry McKay? And his brother Ben from North?
There's your key forward and key backman sorted out.
I guess the factors are:
*Trading with Carlton. Will not be made easy and they are known for wasting others time during trade week.
*Essendon and North in a position to offer more money.
*We dont really have the trade chips at this point. _________________ A Goal Saved Is 2 Goals Earned! |

It could be argued Harry McKay is now THE most valuable player at Carlton; even more so than Cripps. Charlie Curnow, Weitering and Walsh behind.
They would be insane to even contemplate releasing him; he will be the best one-grab mark in the comp within two years, if not so already.
Blues will be paying him whatever he asks, my guess.
I'd be guessing Josh Jenkins will leave Geelong at seasons end, and I'd be asking for him for nothing too. It's either us, Hawks or Roos for him. _________________ M I L L A N E 4 2 forever |
