Why bother?
Finals are out & even finishing last gets us bugger all.
This was the first year, of 50+, that I’ve known we were screwed before RD.1.
I was fairly sure in 2014, but if the Trade week clustercluck didn’t convince me, losing the President a week before R1 - whether u like him or not - removed any doubt.
This was not just our 2nd 1 pt loss to flag a favoured side, both were games we had in hand & gave up at the last, as easily as we gave flags to Geel, Syd, WCE, & Rich.

Those who STILL choose to ignore a decade of failure, & prefer to pick a player or 2 to blame, really need to make some effort to grow a brain & try to learn a LITTLE bit about the game, it’s psychology & Collingwood in particular.

Have you REALLY failed to notice his total hopelessness as a coach after a DECADE?
His massive cock-ups on Thursday nights?
His complete ‘deer-in-the-headlights’ failures to act on game days?

In some ways 2018 hurt us badly. A combination of factors, most especially Justin Longmuir, turned a 95% side into a 110% side.
As some may remember, before RD.1 began I tipped us to finish as runners-up.
After 2011, after our best season in 5 decades, I said we’d be out of finals within 3 seasons.
Let me assure you that I have NO ability to foresee the future, nor am I the repository of all footy knowledge (one of them at best) :p

But no such skills are required to see where we were headed in the decade since the DUMBEST move since the Dees dumped Norm Smith in ‘64. In fact boatload of us saw what was gonna happen because it was OBVIOUS!! Sadly I

The ONLY ones to be be oblivious to the obvious were those who couldn’t see how one of our all-time greats (& thats indisputable, he’s in my top 5), could so abjectly fail as a coach. Not just a champion magpie, but a charismatic captain & as nice a bloke as you’d want to meet.
But the way we went about it was doomed to fail.

Anyway, as I said 10 years ago this September, Buckley will never win a flag at Collingwood.
Bet the HOUSE on it.
