Cummins: Inspired captaincy and leader of the attack, taking 21 wickets @ 18.04

Sad lowlight: Cummins's batting in the 3rd innings of the Tassie Test.
Very painful watching him sink to that level. He's better than that. But maybe when you see your specialist batsmen so useless against bouncers, the fear spreads through the whole team... |

There’s something peculiar about looking for lowlights in the batting of the best bowler in the world, in a series his team won 4:0. What purpose does this serve? |

I did not "look for lowlights". It's gobsmacking that you would make false accusations like that. Did you actually believe your false accusation when you wrote it, or were you just trying to pull a fast one?
I watched something live that made me very sad. I intended to post about it. But I hadn't until I did. |

Everyone was joking about Lyon's batting... Especially the BBL commentators...
But they don't stop to think about the bleeding obvious...
Lyon dealt with Wood's bouncers effortlessly. Three sixes. One of them went into the second tier of the grandstand.
And on the same pitch against the same bowler, the Oz batters were all ****ing themselves. Pathetic batting. FTB Smith's attempt to do a Lyon was laughable.
As Blewett and others said, they could've tried just ducking... If you know you're hopeless against the short ball, like FTB, you can practise ducking... Surely ducking's not so hard...

You're criticiising the Aussies' #8 or 9 bat. First & foremost, he's a bowler. _________________ Donny.

Not his batting talent, Donny. The way he batted.
Against the WIndies (92-93), McDermott was savaged for backing away when he batted. Of course he and Tim May almost got Oz over the line in Adelaide... (And he didn't back away in that innings.)
And McDermott wasn't captain.
Agree that in Tassie the batters were most at fault. Their ****weak efforts against Wood probably spread fear through the whole team.
I reckon it was totally okay for Pat to turn down a single last ball of the over to give Carey the strike. But the way he batted was not okay. You can't do that when you're captain. If he knew he'd bat like that, he should've sent Lyon in ahead of him. He's captain. He can decide the batting order.
Lyon prolly should've batted ahead of three of them anyway. Again... Three effortless hooked sixes against Wood, one of them into the second tier. And his teammates just ***ed themselves and gave Wood six soft wickets. Just hopeless against the short ball. e.g. FTB's pathetic attempt at a hook shot. Just ***ing learn to duck! |
